Sleeping a lot now

Sophie has started needing a nap after her lunch for the past week or so. She was one who stayed awake nearly all day but since we've started weaning (she has breakfast and lunch - only a tiny bit each but it's a start) she seems to drop off to sleep after her lunchtime milk and can sleep for up to 2 hours. She then goes to bed by 6pm and sleeps through until about 3-4am quite happily when she needs her nighttime feed before sleeping on to about 6.30am.

She's in her cot now in her own room (I'm not sleeping on the floor next to her anymore, LOL) and seems very settled there.

Have any of you found your baby needed more sleep once you started to wean? She's doing quite a bit of 'rolling' onto her side almost on the floor when she plays and she's in her jumparoo a lot so using up some energy Very Happy

We let our children wean themselves, but what ever age they have started we have found they sleep more, solid food fills them up, but like 100g of milk contains a lot more nutrients than the same amount of food, so they don't get the same amount of energy until their tummies are bigger. The youngest weaner we had was Mikey, he started weaning at 9 months and he was a lot sleepier. She may be due for a growth spurt as well which would make her sleepy too.
