I give him his last bottle at 8:30-9:00pm and he goes down straight away. For the last month he has been waking up between 10pm-12am i get up and give him a little pat and he normaly gets back of to sleep with out a problem. The last week he has woken between these times and i find it difficult to settle him,he doesnt want to be held,he doesnt want to lay down he just cries and gets himself really worked up.I have tried to put him in bed with me he still grizzles but eventually falls asleep with a pillow under his head.I was going to try put a pillow under him in his cot but i am to scared as he now rolls in his sleep he is nearly 7mnths old.I dont know if i should be putting him on a pillow yet but it seems he is more comfy and settled like that?
I feel so exhusted as when i try to persist with re settling him in his cot (which i have been trying to do for three days)we both dont get any sleep (i have had three hours last night)so i am desperate for both our well being and my exams coming up in a few months.

its really hot in oz at the moment about 40degrees where my mates are living.. could that be having an affect cos i know i cant sleep well if its too hot and as he so young crying is the only way he could express that.

i dont know if you have already explored that option but could it be a possibility?

Yeah it has been very hot this week.Where i live it has not been under 45* for the last three days and its going to continue for another week at least.Ellee i dont think the heat is an issue with him hun as we have fantastic airconditioning through out the whole house there is a vent in each room so at night i actually have to put the children in long sleeve pj's as they get cold (i even sleep with my quilt over me)lol and we never turn it off.The only thing i can think of is teething? Samuel isnt very dribbly and his gums seem fine at the moment? But i guess some children dont show any signs of teething then their teeth just appear Suspect
I just remember what Vic was like teething and Samuel is being totally different (i know all kids are different).Samuel wont even sleep well during the day he cat nap's so i cant even have a quick 5 minute rest Teeth .

LOL Ellee my love you are more than welcome to have some(but not all)of this HOT weather,i cant even hang my washing out as im scared it will get cooked and crumble lol.

Samuel lets me put my fingers in his mouth but i cant feel anything but bumpy gums although after you posted i just went to check and they seem a little swollen and red Suspect He also hasnt been feeding to well??
Teeth Aghhhhhh the joys of understanding what a baby needs.

hey at least you know you dont have to turn the oven on to cook your dinner lol just stick it outside on the table!! if you want ill quite happily trade countries( i know the answer will be no it has been with the 2 other aussies ive made that very generous offer too lol!!)

yer its very hard trying to work out what they need when they cant talk or point to whats hurting them maybe try a bit of calpol (or the aussie equilivant) and see if that settles him when he gets bad as its great during teething etc just a case of trial and error i guess

And you are right i wont swap countries although i would for a few months just for a holiday lol.(not knocking England)i think its a beautiful place.

I gave Samuel panadol last night i think that is the same its paracetamol for infants i had to give him some as he was so irritable and i tried everything to calm him. Suspect

If there’s any problem with a fever, then could be possible a night-day regime been swooped and everything went wrong . Have you tried a calming bath or a calming cream to rub onto his chest? I think
Lavender oil is calming and promotes restful sleep. For promotion a good rest and nice bath time I prefer to use natural products on a baby. If you like to shop on a web then visit minte.co.uk baby's department and there they have a wonderful selection for babies: shampoos, creams, lotions. Looks like that price crunch gives us the better deals on products at the lowest prices. I suppose a "nanight cream" is ready to help.

Aww hun, you could be talking about Jake. He only cat naps during the day and although he was sleeping through from around 2.5/3mth old he has also started waking )but between 2am-4am normally. It is almost impossible to settle him back off and it has been driing me mad too. He also has his last bottle about 8.30pm too. I'm not sure a pillow is a good idea (they aren't recommended until over 1yr) but have you tried putting a pillow or wedge under the mattress on his cot so he is propped up a bit more? If a pillow seems to help it may be worth a go? Tbh though i think it may just be something we have to ride through? I am pretty sure it is teething that is keeping Jake up. He has all the signs and has just go 2front ones at the top. He already has 2 bottom front ones which he got at around 10mth. He was quite late getting teeth. Lauren never got very bothered by teething but it seems to really upset Jake. I also resort to Calpol when it is bad. Sorry i couldn't be more help hun. I do know how you feel though!! Kiss Kiss Xx

My daughter didn't sleep well till she begins to walk and she was 13 months. Before this time I didn't have regular nights... I don't know what to say. Flower

i would take a guess to it being teeth alisa was fine with hers but meleah has been awful overr the past couple of mnths same as jake and sam. if you cannot feel the teeth can you see where the gums are slightly paler as the get paler prior to them coming out.
Also babies can teeth for up to 4mnths prior to the teeth emerging as the jawe needs to make room for the teeth so you may not be able to see anything or feel anything for a while.

As for the pillow i was told and it works that a pillow under the matress is of no danger. the pillow is only a problem if it is on top (Not reccomended untill 1yr) as they can smother their selves with it. i always have (since 1 wk old) a pillow under meleahs mattress as she suffers from asthma and it seems to help it (recomened by HV)

Let us know how it goes with the pillows

HE SLEPT ALL NIGHT LAST NIGHT Very happy Very happy Very happy Very happy Very happy

We did our usual routine and he was in bed by 8:45pm.He woke up at 10pm and i had to pick him up and settle him.My DH put one of our firm flat display pillows in his cot and i put Sam half way up it the little bugger snuggled up and went to sleep right away he woke up at 6:45 this morning Very happy I woke up at 4am and panicked as i hadnt heard a peep out of him so i got up to check him and he was in a really deep sleep(Justin had been checking on him every few hours) Very happy
We have got a wedge under his mattress but it seems he likes something under his head.I know your not supposed to use a pillow untill the age of 1 but he slept so well and is like a different little boy today.
