loosing weight!

I put Joseph on my scales today to check my new battery was working and his weight is coming up as 3stone 4lbs (or 21.3 Kg) In September when he was at the hospital he was 22.9Kg.

His diet is good, apart from the fact he wont eat potatoes (only roast pots, and waffles!) and like me he doesnt eat alot of bread.

Should I be worried?

I wouldn't worry at this point hun, his metabolism could be changing.... Aaralyln eats me out of house and home literally LOL and she is a twig still, she's growing taller but she gains weight very slowly. I've been told not to worry about it too as she is healthy otherwise (other than immune system, but that has nothing to do with her size)... she's almost 6 and she's only about a whopping 40 or 41 pounds!

Aww, i wouldn't worry yet either hun. if you hadn't noticed anything wrong before you put him on the scale there is unlikely to be a huge problem? He could have lost a tiny bit when he was poorly and not quite gained it all back yet? Or your scales may be slightly out from the hospitals? Or like Tammy say's he could just be changing slightly? He may be using up more calories if he is doing more running around? Or he could have had a growth spurt which uses up more calories, so he is slightly lighter? Either way, if you are concerned in any other areas get him checked hun, else i wouldn't worry yet! Both mine gain weight really slowly for some reason? Lolly is 3 and is still wearing 1.5-2yr clothes easily and weighs around 26lb. Jake is 1 and is in 6-9mth (just going into some 9-12mth) clothes and weighs around 19lb? They both have huuuuuuge appetites though, believe me!! Xx

Maybe he's using more energy now at school Suspect As long as he doesn't get obviously skinny I shouldn't worry

I just worry that he is using all his energy to help his breathing, he is also very tall- I had to go and buy him new trousers yesterday (age 7-8 Shocked my baby is only 5).

He has the practice nurse on the 12th Feb for his HIB/MenC booster so I think I will ask her to weigh and measure him.

his clothes are always loose, He is tall and thin anyway, always has been. I would be lost without adjustable waist trousers

I think you shouldn't worry because he eats. Although his food is not so fattening, but he eats. It's okay though. I know many people who don't eat bread and are very thin.

i wouldnt be worried. kids' weights fluctuate all the time. he may have had a growth spurt or if he has been sick lately.

i dont think it is anything to worry about, but if you are worried, just talk to your doctor, and he will straighten things out.

I agree!!! If it weren't for adjustable waists (God I wish I had invented those!! Wink ) Aaralyn would either be wearing "high waters" (what we meanly call pants that are too short here) or she would be pulling them up constantly if the length fit her.
