Had a bit of a scare yesterday...

I got a bit stressed last night, not a regular occurence- but I found myself gasping for breath for about 5 minutes, felt dizzy and had a nosebleed. It felt like I had been running on a treadmill or something as I felt quite ill. I rang NHS Direct and they were thorough and helpful but this still didn't quite put me at ease as I have a history of HBP in late pregnancy (tho not as early as this, 27 weeks- usually starts about week 39/40). I had never had this problem with the other 2 as I had swelling with James but nothing noticeable with Gem as when they had checked me in clinic 2 days before she was due it was just starting to creep up and not at a worrying level.

The baby's been moving loads this morning so I'm not too worried as such, but am concerned that I may have done some damage to the baby?
The other 2 were fine and considering the blood pressure was probably worse with James as it had been for a longer period, in the back of my mind I probably know that there was no harm done- still not easy to forget about it.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I went to the local birth centre (20 mins away) to have my blood pressure checked and listen to baby. Everything fine Very happy - had been unable to get hold of my midwife but the next appointment with her would have been a week next Wednesday although I'm sure she would have seen me earlier to put my mind at ease. I had rung the hospital that I'm due to be delivering in but as it's 45 mins away we tried to see if we could go somewhere nearer just to check, the birth centre was happy to check me but the hospital were like "Well you should really come here so we can keep a record of it" but as long as it was recorded in my notes they were ok about it. Not being funny but in the case that I can't get hold of my midwife it shouldn't really matter, if it wasn't likely to escalate into a major issue, where I go! Crazy

We stopped in Asda on the way home and I got some fab bargains- just bought a Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature breast pump and same brand microwave/cold water steriliser for £10 each! Made a saving of £35! Very happy Quite chuffed as was going to get them anyway!

Aww, so glad all was fine hun. It was probably just one of those unexplainable pregnancy symptoms that happen sometimes? I bet you're glad you got yourself checked out now and can carry on with the rest of your pregnancy worry free (as much as you can when pregnant anyway! lol) well done on the bargains too! I used Tommee Tipee stuff and it was great Very happy Xx

I had HBP on both James and Gem but not until the very last week, but I had asked the MW for an earlier check-up than the standard 28 weeks to keep an eye on my BP just in case. I feel OK now, hoping that it was just a blip. It had probably gone back to normal soon after it had gone up but I just wanted to check! Baby is kicking harder than ever the last couple of days- starting to knock wind out of me a bit!!

I still (hopefully) have 12 weeks to go so am scouring the shops every other week to see what else I can get! Very happy
