Update on pram- delivery... what a mess!

Well how shocked was I today when I got in (just starting to rain, might I add) to see that not only had the couriers delivered my pram 'unofficially'- no one to sign for it (in the case that I am not here they were supposed to take it back to the depot and leave me a card to contact them to arrange a suitable time/date to deliver) but they had left this massive great box around the side of the house in a way that I can only assume would have meant them having to hurl it over the side gate! After dragging it in by myself (to save any water damage), I immediately contacted Toys R Us helpline to explain what had happened and they are mortified! In all, the list of complaints was this...

1) A scrappy piece of paper that read "HAD A DeLiveRy LeFT BeHiND SiDe GATe"-this isn't a typing error on my part, this was actually how it was written. No details of time or by whom;

2) The way it would have to have been 'left';

3) The "2-man delivery" didn't exist- they are supposed to take it into the house for you. Again, the customer service guy was mortified!

4) Given that I had spent most of sunday trying to arrange an alternative delivery address, I wouldn't have been able to as the first delivery for security reasons has to be sent to the home address- and signed for by the person purchasing the order. So even if they had a found a neighbour they could have left it with they wouldn't have been able to by rights anyway!

Toys R Us were very helpful and have logged a complaint on my behalf, they are currently trying to find out who delivered the pram and will get back to me with their progress.

In the meantime I have had to check for any damage to the pram, which they have assured me will be replaced regardless of it being taken out of the packaging etc.

Going to make myself a cuppa and calm down!

Shocking!

Our cot and pram came from Mothercare and the delivery chap was top banana! Very happy Even though Mike was in and helping, I went to pick up the mattress and delivery chap said please don't as that's what he's there for and I need to not lift anything. He was only a young chap.

I hope you get some vouchers or some form of compensation from Dopes-R-Us!! Mad

I have never had any problems with deliveries in the past from other companies, it's down to the courier though not Toys R Us although it reflects on them too. I would appreciate some vouchers or something though, I haven't heard back from them yet but I had rung them at 4pm when I got in and they were hoping to get hold of the courier's office and get back to me before 5pm. Hopefully they'll be back in touch tomorrow.

Haven't told Jezz yet as he's not back from work but he'll be just as annoyed! Tounge Out

Lou aren;t they a nightmare - we had exactly the same problem with DD's new car seat a few months back. Infact i was all for calling them to say that it was not around the side of the house where they apparently left it. We phoned them the first time they carded and said that the only time we would not be in would be school run time (0850 - 0910) and 15.15-15.45, and guess what time they delivered all three days, yep 3.30 !!!!! Angry

I've just ordered my pram for Mothercare, so we shall see what happens with our delivery - apparently it takes up to 4 days - i am off Monday and Tuesday but we will be out for a couple of hours Tuesday and i am back at work on Weds..you just know they will come when we are out.

I think i got a bargain, MAXI COSI MURA 3 with seperate carrycot, footmuff and changing bag £295, usual price £495. I really wanted a seperate carryoct and because of where we are moving too, i wanted something with bigger wheels and pneumatic / all terrain tyres.

I am really really pleased with my purchase. Would of loved to get the car seat included in the price but the only one that fits Marks Warrior is the Maxi Cosi anyway Wink

Hope you get a reply soon!

Hi Becs!

Everyone I've spoken to (obviously not T'R'U though!) have said I should have done that as there's no proof that they delivered it or that it was still there when I returned- other than me ringing to tell them Teeth

One of the girls at the school said I should have said I didn't have it and ask for my money back! While I wish I had said that now I would have felt awful after but then I think well I can't be the only one this has happened to and they should make the delivery firm pay for it! Mad

I sent them an e-mail yesterday reinforcing my opinion and horror at what happened and made sure that they knew I wasn't going to let this lie. Had a reply today and they are very apologetic and are putting it to "higher management" to investigate further- which is great but I better get some form of compensation out of this or I'll write to a newspaper or something! Keeping the 'card' as evidence!!

Put pram up and thankfully no damage!

Your pram sounds lovely, well done on the great deal you got for it- not long and you'll have a lovely little newborn to push around in it! What does Georgia-Mae think of the pram? Gemma had me laughing the other day- she had a child's toy graco pram as part of a set for Christmas and she saw the pram the next morning and said "That's for the baby, too big for dolly!"- Bless!!

How did Georgia-Mae's party go?
