Hi all

Has anyone had poblems with their baby and tummy time play? i have been trying to get my LO to have tummy time play and he point blank refuses he just screams the house down, i sit in front of him with toys but even that doesnt work? im worried he isnt going to develop his arm muscles properly or learn to roll over Unsure

Not really but Sophie will cry after a few minutes so I just do it a few times a day. She suddenly started holding her head up and looking around. Now when she's had enough she just rolls over - sometimes that's as I put her on her front! Blink

Jas hated it as a baby so we propped her on a cushion so she was higher and could see more. Every picture of her on her front she is crying! However it certainly didn't stunt her development Very happy

Just persevere if you just do it for 30 seconds a time Smile Try propping up to with a rolled towel or soft pillow.

Remember they all do things at their own speed so I am sure you have no worries Smile

my friends's daughter would be sick every time she was on her belly, and she just learned to roll from her back to her belly first, but she still learned to do it the other way soon after. she only began crawling at about 9 months though, but it depends on the baby. if he isnt getting his tummy time, he will still develop his muscles. be patient. maybe it's just a phase and he will enjoy it more once he is a bit older. if he cant lift his head for longer periods of time, he will probably find it very boring. good luck but i think he will be fine.

I agree with all the others hun. Don't panic, the muscles will still develop he may just not be able to roll over until a little bit later than some? Lolly absolutely hated tummy time. She would scream just like Shane. I have to confess i gave up trying in the end and she also learnt to roll from back to front first. Lolly didn't learn to crawl until she could walk either (and that was a very late 18mth, although the 1st day she did it was like she had been walking all her life and we seemed to miss the wobbly stage). She would just roll everywhere instead. All babies are different hun. Jake didn't really like it at 1st but he soon got used to it and before long he was loving it. He started crawling at 5mth, and cruising at 7mth. I couldn't have had to such different children! lol Very happy

Pippa always screamed her head off if we gave her tummy time, so we just stopped, she never learnt to roll over, but when she is asleep it is something she'll do.

Joseph hated tummy play liked being on his back. From the day he could roll he choose to sleep on his belly (like I do) so I just asumed he associated being on his belly with sleeping

Aaralyn liked being on her tummy alot more than her back once she was able to roll over and lift her head.... I agree with other advice, just try to get him used to it gradually and soon he'll be happy in that position as well!!
