Green tea - Advice please?!

Ok, sorry I not bee n posting for a while but with xmas and new year and all the buzz assosciated with it, i have just been too busy.

Anyways, my question. I used to suffer really badly with uti's and found that drinking green tea helped to keep everything clear so to speak. Well I know that some herbal stuff is not safe for use during pregnancy but I don't know if green tea is classed as herbal and if it is, is it safe. Every time I speak to my midwife I forget so I have avoided it but do have a large box of the bags in my cupboard.

Sorry for the boring subject.

Hope everyone had a magical xmas and a slightly less merry new year lol. Oh how I missed the champagne this year.

Much love

As far as I am aware it is only raspberry leaf tea you should avoid during pregnancy.

I am sure you will be ok with green tea but as it is 6 years since I was pregnant and things change all the time, one of our 'newer'mummies might be able to help.

EDITED to add It is maybe one of those things were in moderation it will be ok (3 cups a day kinda thing)

My mother is a midwife and said to drink a maximum of one cup a day, she also said they can mask the symptoms of a UTI, so you can have one without knowing.

If you are looking for an alternative try Cranberry juice. I've used it in the past if I've had an infection and when I worked at a Care Home we gave it to the residents who had frequently reccuring UTIs to help fight the infections.

If you have more than two UTI's in 12 months, pregnant or not you should at the very least have a scan of the kidneys, bladder and ureter, if you're doctor hasn't bothered with this, next time go to someone else.

I don't see any reasons to avoid it. Just limit it like you would with coffee.

Thanks guys, I'm thinking I will wait for a bit for now. I have been fortunate enough not to suffer with the uti's during my pregnancy which is encouraging. I seem to get them a lot close together and then none for ages. Random body. My kidney test checked out fine, I htink I was just intolerant to the anti biotics they were giving me so never cleared it up properly. Luckily an anti bacterial medication did the job.

Anyway thanks again. It's great to have people that can help. Love you all and once again Happy New Year! xxx

I too love Green Tea but have been advised to only drink one cup a day - tbh i've not drank it at all during this pg.

How about cranberry juice that helps me with UTI's..?
