What do Milk Spots look like?

Sophie has a few little pimples around her face. They are raised to the touch and have tiny whiteheads with a little red surround. They are quite small and seem to be either very red or almost disappear. I've pressed them and they vanish under pressure (first thing I checked of course!).

I wondered if these are milk spots? They have been around for a good 2 or 3 weeks now. She has nothing anywhere else on her body though.

I can't seem to find anything much on milk spots with pictures. The other thing I read about was baby acne. Never heard of that either! Blink

I do wash her face with cooled boiled water now although I had been using some, allegedly, mild baby cream in the water when I topped and tailed her but am not using this on her face anymore.

Anyone help with piccies?

sounds exactly like milk spots. There is nothing you can do for them, as far as I am aware. They just come and go with no rhyme or reason. They dont hurt baby either

milk spots are sebum trapped under the skin and they are always there and they go in time

if they ever fade or go then its probably just a rash caused by heat or touch because their skin is so sensitive

Hopefully this link will work and take you to a google images page where you can view a picture at full size.

Ah, they look nothing like that Sad Face They certainly aren't like those little white 'blisters' that baby has.

I found something when Googling from another forum but this little one has them really bad - Sophie only has about 6!

I would say they were milk spots too. Each baby is different and the spots vary frrom child to child, that poor mite has loads

Hmm? I would ask the health visitor when you next see her if you aren't sure hun. That link you posted isn't what i had picured as milk spots and it isn't what lolly's looked like. However like Alex says, i'm sure they can vary from child to child. If she only has a few it may even be a slightly bloked pore? Maybe that is why they come and go and look redder sometimes than other times? If they aren't annoying her then i'm sure it isn't anything to worry about! Xx

alex's link were classic milk spots

your link showed spots which i would say were from sensitive skin/heat

how long has she had them ?

She has had them for 2-3 weeks now. Today they are hardly visible. I'm beginning to wonder if it is just slightly blocked pores. They tend to appear more on the side she favours to lay her head on (right hand side) and I'm wondering if using the 'gentle baby wash' wasn't quite so gentle for her face! As I'm just on cooled, boiled water now, we'll see how it goes. I will check with HV though - if they are showing at the time! Neutral

Hello, I'm new.

My little boy had milk spots but they disappeared quite quickly. Now he has a little spot high on his nose near his eye that seems to have been there for about a year. Its not a milk spot as he had those when he was younger. Its harder and darker. I haven't touched it as I don't want it to scar... do you think I should find out if it needs to be removed? Confused
