well big congratulations are in order there! well done hun Very happy

Hayley is right hun. The first appointment is called a booking in appointment. It will be longer than most, your miswife will fill in your notes which you will keep with you for all other appointments, and hospital visits. These are basic medical history etc. She may also take some blood to send to the hospital for them to do a full blood count and check you aren't anaemic or anything. These results will normally be given too you at your next apointment unless you need iron tablets or anything. Oh and she may give you a wee sample pot to do a msu test (mid stream urine test), this is also sent to the hosp for results. The rest is just a chance for you to get to know each other, so make sure you ask any questions you have in your head hun. Hope this helps. It isn't anything to worry about, honest! Xx

You will feel if she is a good one. GL and lots of positive baby dust to you and baby! Very happy

Hey and welcome to JP

What i did on my first appointment was that the MW did see how tall i am and my weight, and did take some blood. She did come home to my house to fill in the notes.

It is nothing to worry about, it will be fun. The start of a long and fun jurny Very happy

CONGRATS!!! Very happy

Each midwife practise can run slightly different.

I had my appointment at 8 weeks and they ran through what to eat and what not too, how to stay healthy, family history, pregnancy history and then took bloods, weighed me etc. I then moved practises (due to house move even though a few villages away i had to move practises) and had my booking in appointment at 15 weeks and they usually take the bllod then not as early as 8 weeks - so don;t be downhearted if you feel like you are missing something! Suspect

Wishing you loadsa luck hunni! xx
