R.E.M. stops Sophie crying!

Would you believe it but Mike stumbled upon the fact that Sophie loves listening to REM and the minute you put any of their music on, she stops crying and goes to sleep Very happy We don't need to get up and 'dance' around with her, literally put the CD on whilst she's bawling and within about 30 seconds, she's stopped and is dropping off.

I listened to a lot of music when I was pregnant (it's always on in the car and often in the evenings at home too) so I guess she's decided what she likes Wink To be honest, I think it's the nice guitar and piano sounds that come through in the songs. Her favourite is Man on the Moon! Very happy

Mind you, she doesn't have all her parents musical tastes. We can't get her to relax and enjoy Linkin Park just yet Halo

Has anyone else discovered music their babies/kids just love and calms them down?

They say that what ever you listen to and relax to when pregnant will help ease a baby. Apparently many children out there Love eastenders and Corrie because when mummy was pregnant she would sit down and relax to watch it and baby associates the theme tune with relaxation.

i always listened to music whilst pregnant and when izzy was born i used to put the music channel on during the day and that would keep her happy and now she loves music she loves singing and dancing away and will just start singing once in the supermarket she was singing in the trolly on the way around the store and this lovely elderly couple gave her a £1 for her singing as they had been in a couple of aisles that we had been in and liked it..

When Aaralyn was a baby she had a vibrating seat that played the tune of Imagine by John Lennon, it was one of the few things that soothed her back in the "colicky days" and would stop her crying sometimes.... starting somewhere about 18 months old maybe, every time she heard the song Imagine she would start crying, to this day she cannot here it with out crying Suspect

That's very cool that R.E.M. works for Sophie like that, I'm sure Michael Stipes and the guys would love hearing that! Very happy

Any music worked for Lolly. She just loves it and sings and dances to everything. When she was a baby i used to sing You are so beautiful to her and it stopped her crying instantly. She also had a cd of nursery songs which came free with a mothering mag. She loved it and would listen to it for hours. Somehow it got lost though and i haven't found one as good Sad Face Xx

edited to add, i have just remembered We Will Rock You by Queen is also one of her favourites and has been since she was little, Along with Whiskey in the Jar by Thin Lizzy.

Aaralyn loves the Beatles too... she can not listen to John Lennon's Imagine with out crying though (she's such a little empath!)
