I am having a phase where my IBS is playing up a little. It is starting to drive me a bit mad, It makes me worry about being somewhere where there isn't a toilet around, this in turn makes it a bit of a vicious cycle as stress and worrying makes it worse anyway Sad Face . Does anyone else suffer with IBS and possibly have any ideas as to what may help? Perhaps herbal remedies? Or anything else?

OMG, we are alike!! I haven't had much issues with it since I had Aaralyn (pregnancy seemed to be the cure for me, I became regular and pretty much stayed that way).... I used to take Leviset or levesin?? I always thought it was stress that caused it for me but I've had much more stress in my life since having to worry about 2 now.

I don't have any miracle cures for you but I just wanted to tell you I understand exactly what you're going through Kiss

Lol, I can't believe all the coincidences we have in our lives hun! I am hoping it is just a bit of a phase and doesn't last too long this time. I have been ok for a few months but it has now reared it's ugly head again Sad Face Still it hasn't got so bad it has stopped me doing anything. Have to try and work out what the cause is this time. Sometimes i think i have figured it out and then it will just seem to happen again for no good reason? Thanks for the sympathy tammy, it means a lot! Kiss Xx

My friend at work really struggles with it now and again and stress triggers hers.

She takes some sort of peppermint tablets which her dr told her to use. I think you can get them from Holland and Barrat. She also has to avoid certain foods when it plays up, wheat mostly I think.

Sorry to hear you are suffering. hope you feel better soon x

Here are some home remedies for you. Irritable bowel syndrome can be corrected by using certain remedies at the household level. The following are some easy home remedies for irritable bowel syndrome that can be used to get relief from the symptoms of this syndrome and to seek complete treatment from it:-

All kinds of mint oils are very good for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. Peppermint oil capsules available in the market can be safely taken as per the dosage mentioned on their covers. You can also use peppermint oil in the following manner. Take about two to three drops of peppermint oil and put it in about a quarter cup of warm water. Drink this solution four times in a day. This remedy provides an immediate relief from irritable bowel syndrome. This is one of the useful home remedies for irritable bowel syndrome.

Be careful of the diet for irritable bowel syndrome you eat when you have irritable bowel syndrome. Do not eat foods that cause heat in the body, as they can aggravate your condition further. Instead, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, especially those which have a high content of soluble fiber in it. Fibers help in movement of bowel and in proper elimination of the fecal matter from them.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a very beneficial herb in curing all kinds of digestive maladies. The curative properties of this herb have been well-known to ancient Asian medicine, and in recent times, the western world has conducted several encouraging experiments of the effects of ginger on the human digestive system.

When you have irritable bowel syndrome problems, consume ginger in any form; it really helps. Drink ginger tea or eat raw ginger. This will prevent and reduce the case of inflammation if it happens while passing stools. However, though ginger is an excellent remedy, it must be avoided by pregnant women. Even people who have conditions like gallstones, or those who are taking some kind of medication for heart conditions or for diabetes must avoid the use of ginger. This is one of the important home remedy for irritable bowel syndrome.
