2 weeks late and 5 negatives--help!

Hello everyone! I'm so glad I found this forum. I was wondering if any of you could lend some much needed advice on my situation.

My period is exactly two weeks late now. I've taken 5 HPTs now and they've all come out negative. My stomach is really bloated and somewhat hard, I feel quite lethargic and am eating everything in sight! However, I don't have breast tenderness or nausea. My mom told me that she didn't have any symptoms of pregnancy with either me or my brother.

I'm really confused. I so desperately want answers but can't seem to find them. My question is this: Can you get so many negatives on HPTs and still be pregnant? I've been told by several people that this is possible due to a very low level of hcp? hcg? hormone in your system? I would be very keen to hear what you all think of this.

I just want to know so I can start getting ready or move on!

Thank you so much for listening.

welcome to JP

I would wait until next week and test again and if nothing then go and see your GP.

Soup is right, diet and stress can affected your period.

Are you trying for a baby or just suspect you might be pregnant?

Thanks a heap soup and alex! I am trying to have a baby. It's such a nerve wrecking process, isn't it? You feel so up in the air most of the time! I took the last test on Tuesday. Should I wait another week to try again?

Have either of you heard of people being pregnant but getting negatives on all the tests they do? I talked to a woman last week who said that she was 2 months pregnant and still getting a negative on her test! She had no idea she was pregnant and just thought she was gaining weight because she'd been eating so much!

some people take longer to show the hormone but you should know for sure if you test again on tuesday

welcome to JP hun If you have been trying for a while hun it is possible that the stress of it all has got to you a tad and that is why you haven't had your AF. Although if you ovulate later than average in your cycle your hcg level may be too small to show up? I would do as the others suggest hun, wait a week and then test again. If it is still negative i would assume you aren't pregnant. Maybe a trip to the GP will help put your mind at rest if you still don't come on in another week or so, good luck hun.

Oh by the way, i'm mandy, mum to Lauren 3 in Jan and Jake 10months Xx

Hi to Mandy and your little ones! Thanks for the support! I will do as you all suggest and keep you posted. In the meantime, I need to curb my eating. I ate enough Chinese food for three people last night! I don't know why I'm eating so much. That might be nerves though. I tend to gorge myself when I'm feeling nervous about something or when I'm feeling uncertain. Thanks for all your support!

hey cassie, im in the same boat as you hun, i haven't had a period in over 10weeks! i had a few faint positives, then a negative just over 2wks ago now but still no sign of the 'monthly', i got in touch with my gp and took a sample down just yesterday for them to test, will get results back by monday (fingers crossed) but if it is a negative they will get me in for blood tests etc to see why i haven't yet come on. i'd suggest you do the same hun. Good luck to you, hope you get the result that your after. Kiss

Hey hun - it definately sounds like you are worrying too much which is not what you want in this situation. Remember you can be pregnant and still show a negative test. Wait a little longer, and if there are still no signs of your period do a few tests at various times of the day (as your hormone levels can change). If these all come up negative then I would recommend popping in to see your doctor just to check all is well. And in the mean time, please don't worry! Take some time for youself to chill, it may really help.
