I am 16wks, have a beautiful 3y DD, but have had 1 x MMC and 1 MC. So I am paranoid to say least Shocked Have just had AFP tests back 1 in 988. But now am worried that this can't be right - I am 38. Any one had similar results?

Sorry hun. Can i just ask why you are worried those results can't be correct? I think it is a pretty conclusive test? Xx

Hi, mmc is missed miscarriage. I am just surprised (and relieved) it has come out so low because I am 38. So having a panic that its a mix up. Guess I am losing it Cuckoo

Try not to panic too much hun. I understand you were worried because of your age and history there could be something wrong but that is why they perform the AFP test so you can put your mind at rest or if the results show high risk, they can perform a diagnostic test like a CVS or Amniocentesis (as i'm sure you know!) 1 in 998 is a fantastic result hun and although it doesn't mean you definitely won't have a baby with a chromosone abnormality the odds are tiny, which is great news Very happy I'm sure this time you will have a happy, healthy bouncing baby in your arms in another few months! Good luck hun, i hope all goes well with the rest of your pregnancy! Kiss Xx

That sounds like a great result Very happy I wouldn't worry it's wrong if I were you. I had a nucal scan at the Fetal Medicine Centre at 12 weeks and the odds of abnormality for my age (I'm just 43 now) were 1 in 50 and yet my adjusted odds after the blood test and scan were 1 in 1350!

I think if you're healthy, age is less relevant to a certain degree.

Glad all is well for you hun and welcome to JP! Kiss
