im a bit concerned at how much izzys been drinking recently izzy seems to drink a fair amount a day she has a sports style bottle and i can fill it to the brim and izzy drains it within 5 minutes and asks me to fill it up again and when i say no she screams and screams if i filled it everytime she asks i would always be filling it up

how much should a 2 year old be drinking?

I think it depends on what she's drinking... if it's water, I don't think it's bad to have alot, but if it's juice or milk I would try to wean her onto drinking water more.

I think a two year old should drink a few beakers of water/weak juice a day. I would say maybe one with each meal and maybe another couple throughout the day? It sounds as though it has become a bit of a habit for her though hun? I doubt there is anything wrong? Maybe if you give her juice try making it weaker until you are using water? She may give up asking so aften if she isn't getting exactly what she wants? Suspect If you are worried about her health maybe take her to the GP's to just rule out something like diabetes (which can make you drink more!) i'm sure it isn't anything to worry about though hun Xx

I wish i could get Crystal to drink anywhere near as much, she has her odd days but she gets engrossed in playing then forgets she has a drink until its bedtime haha, as Tammy said tho, plenty of water is good and also as you say a drop of juice, it can't be to bad in my opinion, Crystal has juice but i dont like it that much so when i make it, it's more like water as i hardly put any in but rich makes it strong. I think that what Izzy is drinking will be ok as long as she isn't showing any signs of a water infection or anything else. If you are worried maybe ask your health visitor how much she should be drinking, you maybe suprised by the answer though.
When Crystal had her two year check up and they asked how much she eats, i was told her portoins should be the same size as her palm, not look at Izzy palm and tell me your child can be satisfied with a portoin that size

George and Charlotte drink a lot, they both have a sports bottle type thing full of water or squash. They do leave them to one side to come back to later.

If you are concerned hun, get her in the drs, I don't want to put the frighteners on you but drinking a lot can be a sign of diabetes, but it could be nothing too xx

Edited to say: Sorry Mandy, just realised you already said that Embarassed

Did they not mean a portion size of each food group should be the size of her palm hun? Ie. One portion of vegetables or fruit is the size of her palm. Therefor to get 5 portions of fruit or veg she would need 5times that during the day? A portion of meat, and a portion of carbohydrate ie, potato/pasta etc would also be the size of her palm.

Yea i think thats what was meant but most kids i know wont eat all of what is on their plate and may prefer more of one item than another, i just give Crystal what i feel she will eat
