Ferritin levels?

Had my blood test results back from booking at hospital and am a bit confused- what's this ferritin level about? From what I could find online, it's to do with iron in the blood but I can't work out if there's a problem? My ferritin level was 13.0 (doesn't specify volume or anything) Confused

I wasn't told exactly what it was all called when i had my results hun, they told me my results in lamens terms, ie, my midwie told me what my iron level was. But this may be the technical/medical term for it? If so then 13 is a good result and means you aren't anaemic and don't need to go onto iron tablets. They do another full blood count later too though hun. This is to check how much your iron levels have dropped and they will inform you if it has dropped to a level where you have become slightly anaemic and need to take iron supplements.
Sorry i couldn't be more help hun, try not to get yourself too worked up about results, they will always tell you if any results from tests you have are anything to be concerned about, and if you don't understand something, ask. It really helps to put your mind at ease and it wouldn't be the first time they had been asked that question. So don't worry about looking silly or anything! Kiss Xx

Spoke to midwife yesterday when I went for triple test bloods, she said it was to do with iron and that my level was fine. Have been taking 'pregnancy' tablets from Asda that contain 112% RDA of iron so I don't think I'll have a problem anyway! Thank you for your help Kiss
