Any advice on my milk supply?

Hi there, am after some advice. I have been exclusively breast feeding my son for 12 weeks, expressing one bottle every morning for my husband to give him his dream feed at 11. Unfortunately the amount i am able to express in one go has dropped from approx 5 to 2oz! My health visitor advised to express again later in the morning but im worried this is taking from a feed later and i know my supply lessons later in the day. I have considered replacing the dream feed with a formula feed and continueing to express just the once and freeezing. Has anyone else had a similar experience? or have any advice? Thanks

wow 5 oz Shocked thats amazing !!

has something changed in your routine that could explain the drop ? are you expressing at the same time as you was? are you as relaxed as you was? are you comfortable and un hassled ? was you doing anything to help you before like loking at a photo, drinking something hot, spending time massaging before starting ?

im having to top up with formula at the moment every now and again he gets 2 oz but i try express 1oz so that i can make it half and half

could you do the same ? keep expressing and trying to get your supply back up and just add 2oz of formula to what your expressing. hopefully your milk supply will increase again and you get cut out the formula

or could you try expressing at other times ? yu can keep adding to your collected breast milk through out the day,

my advice ismake sure you are having enough fluids and food as this effects production. don't try dieting yet and one bottle a day makes it less of a shock when you decide to stop.

i found a really cool thing to boost my milk supply

its called fenugreek and you can get it from holland and barrett Very happy

theres also something called blessed thistle which really helps when taken with the fenugreek but i haven't managed to get some yet

Hi there,
Have you heard "lactation massage", maybe it could help. Massage your breast in a circular motion. In this way, the milk that were clogged up to the milk ducts will get dislodged from the ducts. Thus, it allows the milk to flow. After a simultaneous massage, the milk will now let down and you will experience an increase of milk production.

Another tip: Drink a lot of fluids to increase milk production.
Anyhow, search for the recipe: "lactation cookies"
