wasnt really an option for me as they wont tell you in scotland no matter how much you beg.i did consider paying for a 3/4d scan when expecting my second so i could find out but decided i wanted the same surprise as i had with my first and glad i did.

When the times comes, I suppose I'd quite like to know before-hand so I could think about names, but it really wouldn't make any difference to me either way whether it was a boy or girl! Why won't they tell you in Scotland?

I didn't find out with Robbie but we knew deep down he was a little boy Very happy

With Billy we found out and did with Isabella and this lil one too.

Even though Mark is still convinced that this baby is a girl still LOL.

its now all hospitals policy due to the number of people given the wrong sex and suing there bums off basically also you are only given one scan up here at 12 weeks unless for medical reasons so most babies are too small to tell the sex at that age

Suing them?? How petty is that!! I thought having a baby was supposed to be the happiest time of your life, who on earth would want to get involved in legal proceedings when they've just given birth?! Confused

loads of people apparently.when i was expecting my first ther was a woman in my antenatal class who had successfully sued the nhs as she was told at scan 8 years b4 she was twin boys and gave birth 2 two girls.she sued them for expenses as she had bought and decorated all blue and for emotional distress! id have just laughed and bn glad they where healthy myself

i was 26 i had it done because when my bloods come back there was a higher chance of ella having downs.

it came back as a 1 in 249 chance of her having it the cut of point is 1 in 250.

I never really asked with any of my two.

With Kieran I just had a gut instinct from day one it was a boy, so much so I never picked any girls names at all Wink .

And again with Lauryn I wasn't so sure but probably about 90% of me thought it was a girl, again I only picked girls names, hadn't a clue what I'd have called her if she was a boy LOL Very happy

I had 20 wk scans with both of them because there's a history of downs in my family. Kieran I could have asked ~ they asked if I wanted to know but I said no.

Lauryn, DH asked if they could tell what it is and the girl said yes but they're not allowed to say, DH said we thought it might be a girl and she gave him a look and shrugged but it looked like she was saying we were right.
