I have got my appt for my scan and I'll be exactly 11 weeks. Will they be able to tell the sex of the baby then as it's not 12 weeks?
x
Sorry hon but the answer is no. It is very rare to be able to tell even at 12 weeks. At 16 weeks they should be able to tell you but that of course depends on Baby being the right way up with it's legs and hands in the correct position for the sonographer to be able to see. And sadly, even then it's not an exact science. A freind of mine kitted her whole room out in boy stuff only to get a shock when a baby girl was presented to her in the delivery room!
As Hannah said hun, you will not be able to find out the babies sex at this appointment. The babies sex organs should be developed at 11 weeks but it eould be almost impossible for the sonographer to accurately identify what was what and even if they had an inkling (sp?) they wouldn't be willing to tell you at that point? Imagine how you would feel if they got it wrong! Here's hoping they will be able to see at your 20wk scan hun! Sorry it wasn't better news for you Xx

At my 12 week scan with my first they couldn't tell the sex, at my 12 week scan with my second baby they did tell me the sex. I guess it's much harder when the baby is still so small and just abit of good luck if they are ablr to see. If not it'll be a surprise for your later scan

At mine they could, infact i asked is that what i think it is. Of course having a boy there was a little something there. BUt i paid £40 for a private scan as i was having pain and worried if i was ok, but all was great.
Its normally 16- 20 weeks they can give more of a proper answer
