Hi everyone im new to this site and was just looking for some advice.
Me and my partner have been trying to concieve for 2 months know after i came off the contraceptive pill,(we are both young and quite fit so hoping shouldnt take too long).
Well the first month i had my normal withdrawal bleed then went 40 days until next AF (which was alot heavier than the norm for me) well im now on day 37 and still waiting for AF, ive had 2 bfn but i may be testing too early?
im just a little worried as i cannot work out when i am ovulating due to being irregular.
Has anyone else had this problem if so any advise would be greatly appreciated. thank-you x
40 days no AF but bfn
hey and welcome to JP.
After coming off the pill it can take up to a year before your body settles down into a regular pattern again. this is due to different vitamins that the body has been deprived of whilst being on the pill.
try taking a B vitamin suppliment for a while as this is one vitamin the pill stops the body from absorbing. B vitamin complexes are esential to aiding ovarian functions.
thing to do also is to take the advice i recieved from others on here.
Relax, don't stress and try not to think about it too much. Sometimes stressing about it can actually make you miss a period.
and as you are irregular at the moment and want to know when you are ovulating why not try taking your temperature daily? when you ovulate your temp should spike by 0.2 c. you can also monitor your mucus. when you ovulate it should be stretchy (can stretch to around 2-4cm between finger and thumb) and have the appearance of egg whites.
Just try to not think about it too much. i became very upset after only two months of trying and no luck and then i signed up on here and all the advice people have given me in the past 2 short weeks have made me look on the brighter side of life. it will happen as im a young healthy fit(ish!) woman with no health problems other than a mild case of asthma. it may not be this month it may not be next month but i dont mind as it will happen sometime. just dont stress relax and dont think about it. throw yourself into something to take your mind off it. that always helps.
im now planning my holiday that im going on in 2 weeks (YAY
) and after that we are moving house so im being miss organised and planning it all now.
hope that helps. sorry for the essay lol

Hi hun, firstly welcome to JP I hope you enjoy yourself on here, it is a great bunch of people!
I am mandy mum to Lauren (Lolly (2 1/2) and Jake 7 1/2 months.
There is some very good advice in the above post hun. Stress is terrible for conception. It messes up lots of bodily things, not just TTC. It really can be difficult to know when to try etc. when you have irregular periods. But as has already been said it can take quite a while sometimes to get back to normal after taking the pill. 2mths really is a short amount of time to have been trying.
If your period stays at around 40 days i would estimate ovulation to take place around day 20ish? as well as the above advice on knowing when you are ovulating you could try the ovulation predictor tests but these can become rather addictive and you are also spending a fair bit of money every month buying more.
Also make sure OH dangly bits are cool and carefree and he and you aren't drinking too much or smoking as this can affect conception also. Plus taking a vitamin supplement such as pregnacare is an idea too, or at least folic acid which is reccommended from TTC up until 12 weeks of pregnancy! I hope this helps hun. Good luck, enjoy all the trying!
Xx

Hi Amz welcome to Jp.
I was trying to conceive for four months after losing my baby girl earlier this year, my doctor gave me good advice dont get hung up on ovulation dates, have sex no more than twice a week and well this month i got a positive result. I know it is easier said than done but you do need to stay relaxed and remember its meant to be fun!!

try not to get hung up as you have just started trying
it took me over 2 years - and it gets very stressfull so just go with the flow and enjoy yourself for as long as possible
