I am 34 weeks pregnant and i went to see my consultant on thursday and he said my baby is measuring nearly 37 weeks and is very big he said i have to have a scan and go back in 3 weeks i explained that my three girls have all been 8lbs and i was ok with them but he said this was will be alot bigger. I do feel alot bigger this time and the pain i get when he moves is unbeliveable i feel really uncomfortable no matter what im doing and i havent had a good nights sleep for months but the consultant wasnt really helpful and wouldnt tell me what they would do when i next go back. I might be worrying over nothing but im just scared. Thanks for reading.

Well I can't advise on the size of your baby but as for the pain and sleepless nights I can relate to that. I have a girl and boy and with my son's pregnancy I was in agony and he was laying in an awkward position transverse (side ways basically). My midwife told me that boys are normally much more awkward whilst inside us and she always got SOOO many more complaints from women who were pregnant with boys about the discomfort, awkwardness moving, getting comfortable etc. As you've already had 3 children I would think this will make a 4th birth managable, even if he is a big boy. Good luck
I would wait until your scan.
Both my friend and I were told by the same consultant that we would have average sized babies (about 8lbs)
Joseph was 6lb 11 1/2oz a week late and my pal's baby was 10lb 2oz a week late. I don't know if they really know sometimes.

Hi hun, as alex said, i would also wait until you have had your scan before you start to worry (easier said than done, i know)
I'm sure they can't always tell from palpating and tbh i don't think they always get it right even with a scan
. Maybe you just feel more uncomfortable because of your DS's position? Or you are carrying as lot of water?
I measured 2/3weeks ahead all the way through my 1st pregnancy and they told me my daughter would be massive. She was 8lb 8 1/2oz at birth (not huge!) My son measured 2/3weeks small for dates. He was smaller at 7lb 10oz but still a very good size, even though they told me he would be tiny?
Also my friend was told her 2nd baby was going to be huge like her previous daughter and that they recommended a c-section at 38 weeks. She went along with it and her 2nd daughter was born weighing less than 6lb!
Whatever weight your son is born i'm sure everything will be fine.
Xx

I wouldnt panic hun,my gyno and Mw both kept telling me my baby boy was going to be huge up untill the day i had him.He was 5lb 15oz i also measured 37 at 32 weeks and i was pretty big.
I was very uncomfortable and alot of movements were painful (i got told later it was normal)lol
My DS was born 3 weeks early naturally and both my mw and gyno were shocked he was so small.
(i also had a scan the day before he was born as i had decreased movements)and they told me he was a big boy ?????lol

think they wait until your 36 weeks and take it from there, baby needs to be measuring at least 3 centiles more than the graph before they do anything, hope all goes well but its not usually the size of the baby that makes a birth difficult its the position baby is in
Thankyou for all you replies i feel a bit better now i will wait and see what they say when i have the scan will keep you informed thanks again cheryl xxx
