Weak Nails

Anyone know of any good nail strengtheners? My nails are quite weak, and they break quite easily, so it's hard getting them to grow long! I got a Boots No7 Strong Nails treatment, but it just flakes and peels off as soon as I have a shower or wash up!!

No I haven't - thanks though - only thing is, we don't get an Avon catalogue here, and I'm not sure how you get the ladies to come to you. Do you just have to wait til they do your street?!

i got a really good one from a nail technician. im sorry i cant remember what it was called. you had to paint it on once a day, two coats, then take it off at the end of the week and start again.

it was about £5 a bottle but well worth paying the extra. 3 years later and my nails are still as strong. i used it for about 6 months in total, i wanted lovely nails for my wedding, in the 6 months i had it and used it i didnt even use a quater of a bottle and was able to give it to someone else then.

i would definately recommend getting a professional one, well worth the extra money.

That's reassuring, thankyou! Been worried that I've just been doomed to have rubbish nails for ever. I am thinking a professional might be a good idea, I've never even been for a manicure as I used to bite my nails (prob another reason why they're so weak), so it's only recently that they've been something I cared about!

not sure, ive never bitten my nails, but the index finder and middle finger nails were so weak on mine they would just peel and break all the time.

now all of them grow really well, people accuse me all the time of having acrylics on, but they are all mine!

Have you tried adding Jell-o to your diet once a week?
There are a few multivitamins on the market that work well to strengthen nails from the inside out too.

It also helps to file your nails in one direction, and keep them rather short until they are stronger.

If you do polish your nails let the polish (varnish) wear off, because the nail polish remover can weaken your nails too.

I did hear that eating a cube of jelly a day was good for your nails, but I wasn't sure whether that was an urban myth! I've seen a product on the market called "Perfectil" which is supposed to benefit your hair, skin and nails, but it may well just be made of stuff you could get by eaitng certain foods anyway..

i think its OPI that makes the products i`m thinking off. the are called nail eat and nail drink and also nail envy. I don`t know if you have a " sallys" shop near you but they stock them also QVC shopping channel. They are a bit pricey but well worth it Very happy
