Baby head down for 6 weeks now changed positions?

Each time I've seen the midwives, they have told me (for the last 6 weeks) that baby has been head down. Great I thought, all ready for birth (not just yet though - I'm only 33 weeks now!).

Today, due to severe back pain, I went to see the doctor. She checked baby and says she believes she is transverse. She used the doppler thing on my tum and whilst you could hear the heartbeat low down, you could hear it very loudly above and to the right of my tummy button Sad Face

I said that surely that didn't matter too much as it was my second baby and I've read they don't often move down and engage until almost labour started but she said she should be head down by next week and if she's not they will scan me to check! Hang on a moment... is that necessary?

I have to confess that I trust the midwives more than this particular doctor but just wondered if others have had a similar thing.

Of course, it's just given me something to worry about for no reason Cuckoo

Aaralyn was head up until I was about 34 weeks, ironically I was so happy that she turned, I felt it happening, then I ended up having her a couple days later but because of the condition I had not because she was ready to go at that point...

Hopefully she will switch back to proper position before she tries to make her appearance! I think she's just being cheeky already Wink

Both of mine were head down at every appointment from 16weeks. But i would think you still have plenty of time yet hun. I do think they tend to be a bit more worried with transverse rather than breech because obviously it is impossible to deliver a transverse baby naturally. If you are worried and don't trust the doctor, i would ring and ask to see the midwife again as soon as poss and get her to examine you again to see what she thinks? Doctor may be wrong? Don't worry too much though hun. Although both mine were head down from the start. Neither of them engaged properly until i went into labour! Xx

I'm seeing the midwife again for usual appointment on Monday. I have no faith in the doctor and am actually not going to see her again. I'd rather wait for any kind of appointment with another doctor than see her!

I'm pretty sure the midwives are correct Smile Also, hiccups the last couple of days are all down below my belly button so I think she's head down still and my right hand side is 'soft' compared to the left where all the kicks and wiggles are Smile

I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks for advice on 'rocking' - I've read that too so nice to hear it can really work Very happy
