Children's surnames (DF is really upset)

Not my fault for once though lol! We got dds school admission letter today and only my name was on there well not even my name just my surname - now this has upset DF as we are not married and DD has his name - but he hasnt been mentioned anywhere in the letter and he is really upset and worried it means that if anything was to happen to DD while at school they would by-pass him and come to me - i have tried explaining its coz we are not married and im dds mum, mums are always the first one called unless in other circumstances but its really upset him! this thing started though when we were looking into getting DD a passport last yr and he learnt as she was born b4 Dec 2003 he cant legally apply for it as we are not married! i know how he feels but then i feel like saying i feel left out as i have a different name to DD - we are planning to get married as soon as we can after this bubs is born but he really wanted us to get married before so we all had the same name - it also upset DF that DD and this bubs will have my surname in hospital even though registered under his sur-name - i cant seemt o explin to him him it doesnt matter they are and always will be his children and have his name! i know im just wobbling on but just wondered if anyone else is in this position and feels the same? How is your OH with it all?

im in a similar possition, when both of my kids ere born they took my surname and my partner at the time was really upset, and i explaind to him that when we get married (we were engaged due to marry 2009) that they will then have his surname, i had a lot of trouble with his family saying it was wrong of me to give my kids my surname as they are his kids to. but i didnt want my kids to have his surname just in case we split up which we did so i made the right desision.

Hi..Im putting my baby surname in my boyfriends as if we decide to get married and the babys in my name...my boyfriend would have to adopt his own daughter..and i dont think thats right...

my brother is also having this problem as his girlfriends wants there baby in her name and not his..

The baby is half your partners and should be allowed the baby in his name even if you spill up or not..

i gave Bethany her dads surname, cant even begin to imagine the row if i hadnt lol but now i feel the odd one out badly and really just wanna get married. weve been engaged now for 2 and a half years and are no closer to being married as just cant afford it.

ahh bless u r in a pickle i havent a clue what u should do but i guess if i had to pick one of those i would have to go for the douuble barreled one then that way he has a bit of u both and when he old enough he can choose what he wants lol
