toddler harnesses

Candra used to run of on me and hide in stores so often I had to use a harness for her. I have to admit i felt so much better knowing no one could take her or having her lost. It was a bit of a hazard when she ran around and would start getting it twisted around her neck, but the leash was short enough for me notice right away for me to fix it.
The only person I have ever had criticize me for it was a lady who was waiting at the bus stop with me. She's like "Those things are so dangerous. Those are banned because my grandson was strangled by a harness." The only reply I gave her was " they're not banned". I don't know her whole story so I'm not going to be mean. But a few parents need to realize that saftey gear for babies and kids are not play things. I used my harness responsibly and kept it up high when it was not in use. You use the same precautions as with baby gates and high chairs, strollers and cribs.
So if there are people that criticize you say " Does it look like I'm not being responsible with it?"

Before I had a child I thought they were horrible and degrading.... WTF did I know, I didn't have a kid!! Wink

I never used one on Aaralyn but now that I'm a mom I can see how in certain situations they could be very helpful (such as big crowds, ect)

I see no problem with them at all. I had one for Jas that fitted nicely around her chest and back but had two little clips either side for the reign part. It wasn't long enough for her to get it around her neck but was just right for me not to lose her.

You do what's right for you hon and stuff anyone who says otherwise. A good parent wants to know where their child is and that they are safe and a harness just helps!
