Hi everyone. i am wondering if anyone has experienced a pain in their side below bottom rib? Feels a bit like a stitch and is worse when bending over. I am 6 weeks pregnant and concerned this indicates something is wrong?

look forward to hearing off u. Sad Face

Don't panic, my other half had the exact same thing, everything was fine. Remember the body is stretching slowly to accomodate the new arrival, so pain is to be expected, you will more than likely suffer stronger growing pains as time moves forward as your body adjusts to having a growing life inside you.

Yep i had same thing hun, was worse with my 2nd pregnancy. As rich says, it was growing pains. If it gets worse i'd see a doc but try and take things easy and i'm sure it will ease, although you may get a pain somewhere else? - sorry! You could have just pulled a muscle though if you have been lifting anything heavyish? If so, don't lift anything else and relax as much as possible!

I had them this time but don't remember them last time. I checked with my midwife - it's trapped wind that causes it Embarassed It's nothing to worry about but if you're feeling unsure, just ask your MW next time Smile

Hi everyone Razz

I have been to the midwife for the first time and i asked her about the pain in my side, she said i must have pulled something! she said my stomach ache is normal "bedding in" pains. Got to admit i felt rather deflated after seein the midwife, she gave me no advice or idea of things to expect - even failed to mention folic acid. I only had my BP checked and urine and asked which hospital i want to give birth in. If i hadnt been researching things myself i would feel lost. Thank god for the internet and my common sense. I feel so sorry for those people who dont have the net or friends/family with knowledge, they wont get it from the health care system until they get a scan (i guess) and isnt that a bit too late!!!!!

I do suspect the pain i had in my side, that woke me up in the middle of sunday night resulting in a worried phone call to NHS direct, was trapped wind. I cant stop trumping today!

Hope everyone ok! Very happy

hiya..i also had these stitch like pains in my last pg...they were quite painful at times but they are nothing to worry about..mw told me it was due to ligaments stretching...a good tip on how to ease them is to stand up and stretch your arms to the ceiling and take deep breaths..this helped for me...hope it works for you...take care x x x Kiss
