I think it depends hun, I think that sometimes a DNC has to be done to remove (I'm sorry Sad Face ) the fetus or toxins can cause the mom harm. I had a miscarriage when I was very young and didn't even know I was pregnant until after the miscarriage and they did a DNC on me (I forget what DNC stands for??)

I feel so bad for your friend but I think she needs to get more answers from her medical team. Good luck with trying to help her through this Cass, that's really sweet of you, even if you don't know what to say just having somebody listen helps Kiss

I've know people who've had miscarriages early on like that and didn't need to have one, so I guess it just depends on the circumstances, let us know how things for her hun Kiss

awww, thanks, I was only 15, in an abusive relationship (that unfortunately went on till I was 17) and I never had to make a decision about keeping it at that point in my life so I think what happened was meant to be.... I still wonder sometimes though what would have been... I would have a 22 year old Shocked... I really believe that sometimes things happen for a reason.

Really sorry to hear about any of you who have had miscarriages- it's a horrible thing to go through.

D&C stands for dilation and curettage hun. This needs to be done sometimes if the foetus isn't naturaly expelled from the body or if some tissue remains in the womb to prevent infection and bleeding. We used to have women in for D&C's a lot when I worked in gynae.

I sincerely hope that everything works out for your friend hun. Have they done an internal scan? They do those in my area. It's where instead of scanning belly they actually insert a probe vaginally and can get a sometimes get a clearer picture of whats going on in early pregnancy.

I have my fingers crossed for her and think you are a good friend for being there for her. Kiss

It sounds like maybe she has had a m/c if they can't find a heart beat at 7 weeks but maybe her dates are different to what the hospital date her at. Fingers crossed for her hun Kiss
