Baby Age to Sit

About what month do babies start to sit up on their own? My baby is now 10 months and I can't leave him just sitting on the floor because I'm afraid he might fall and get hurt. Anyone is welcome to advice. Thanks!

there is no 'exact age' hun - every baby is different - dont worry if he isnt sitting up yet, he probably just isnt ready, it doesnt make him slow or mean theres something wrong so dont let this worry you - i know a few peoples babies who arent doing things and then others where they are.

they say its aproximately six months - but dont let this freak u out - its only an average. Ethan has always been a very early baby with everything - he lifted his head clear when he was lying on my tumy the day after i had him (i was shocked but the midwifes said alot of babies are stronger these days) and he was sitting up from around 4 1/2 months. do you have a bumbo chair?? i highly recommend them as i think that helped with the strengthening of Ethans back.

likei said before hun - dont worry but if u really are concerned speak to your health visitor or doctor just to put your mind at ease from an expert.

was he premature? as that can also delay things?

My baby is normal and he's not premature. He's got 4 teeth now and I think that's what makes his bones not that strong yet. 'Coz calcium maybe went to the teeth part. Very happy Hmmm, I hope I'm making sense.

no-one has mentioned that hes abnormal! all babies are different and like i said - dont let it get to you if he just isnt ready to do things.
i dont think the teeth thing will make a difference as hes at the age where he should have most if not all his front 8 teeth.just see how he goes on over the next few weeks to a month, or like i said above - speak tour HV she will be able advise u more.

All babies are different, Charlotte could sit up at about 3 1/2 - 4 months but George was about 6 1/2 months before he did. George could roll over at about 3 1/2 months but Charlotte was crawling before she could do it properly! So I wouldn't worry too much, but if you have any concerns or just want your mind put at rest, see your HV or DR. xx

holly was ill when she was lil so she started about 7 mounths and abbie was about 4 mouths.

it dnt matter all babies are diffrent.

if your worried about him falling back put a pillow or sumthin behind him so if he falls its soft and wont hurt
