my 4yr old daughter found drugs in asda baby changing toilet

Hi i would just like to worn mums about my experience.

I am absolutly furious i went shopping with my family last thursday in asda. When my 4yr old and 3 yr old little girls needed the toilet so i took them to the baby changing room toilet when i was putting my 3 year old on the toilet my 4 year old shouted excitedly "hey look mummy ive found some shurbert". I turned around to see her holding open a small see through bag with a green cannabis plant picture on it inside it was some a small amount of white powder at the bottom of the bag and some stuck to the sides of it. I screamed and grabbed it of her scrubbed her hands in the sink while crying i made sure her hands were clean and ran out of the toilet with the packet and gave it to my partner who couldnt belive his eyes. i got my children and went to customer services and demanded to see the manager when i explained what had happened the man at the desk was shocked and called the manger the manager told him it wasnt his problem and to talk to the security guard. We went to the security guard to be told he was to busy to deal with it and he would call me later i started shouting "hang on a minuite my 4yr old little girl has just had her thumbs in a bag of drugs in your toilets and your to busy to deal with it what would you have done if she would have took it she had open heart surgery last year and is 4 yr old she would have been dead if she had have took it" i was hysterical but he just told me to leave my name and number and he would call me later. I told my little girl straight to the doctors and had her checked over and told she was fine but i was still really upset and shocked. I then got home to an answer phone message of the security guard saying "im sorry about what happened but it is a public place and is to be expected but we have informed the police" HOW CAN THAT BE TO BE EXPEXTED?I contacted the police to be told that they had not had any call from asda so they logged it for me and gave me a log number. I then contacted asda house where the mangers are based and was told the same as the security guard had said. I have now got the papers involved because its discusting how they have been with me and how they think a child finding drugs in there store is a normal thing.

Im sorry to have gone on but please be carefull when you are in public toilets my heart sank and i wouldnt like anyone have to go through that or for any child to actually take something like that thinkong it is sweets.

OMG!!!That is terrible, and what wa Angry nkers. I'm glad to hear your LO is fine, but that is still not the point, I thought the toilets were checked regularly? They would of soon acted if someone nicked something!I would of done the same and I hope the paper gives a good story on this and makes parents more aware of drugs and how stupid people can be with them. Keep us updated on it all. If that was Cait who found it she would of just eaten it!

that is absolutely outf Angry king rageous!!!
dam right you going mad!! i would of stood on the desk and told every passing customer!! well done you for contacting the papers - hopefully bad publicity will see it right but no matter what they say or do still doesnt contemplate the fact of what could of happened if your little girl had taken any of it!!

our local morrisons was in the paper a while ago as a little girl got a bottle of bleach off the bottom shelf and the cap came off and went in her face - they denyed that, tryed to make out it wasnt their fault, but her mother faught it and she got compensation aswel as a new law stating that bleach products have to now be kept on the top shelf by law... dont let it go hun... keep fighting till they realise! x

omg. i cant believe they treated you like that. how bad do things have to be before people take responsibility for what goes on in their premises. i thought it was standard that toilets and baby changing are checked frequently for such obvious reasons. good for you going to the papers!!!!

thanks for your replies just an update to let you know the paper has been in touch with me today and told me that asda are refusing to comment on the matter.
Fleetwood is only a little town so nearly everyone around here know about it and are discusted themselves they will loose out on alot of custom.
What annoys me alot is that i had a fryer of asda about 2 years ago and the handle broke and burnt my hand slightly after i had only had it about a week. I got 2 ladies from asda come to my home with flowers and a new fryer (the dearest one in the shop) and a £100 asda card yet with something like this they cant even be bothered to call the police, apologise, or speak to the paper it is discusting. I feel so angry and upset that it could have took my daughters life if she had have taken it but it doesnt matter to them. I think they just think im some overprotective mother who needs help but im not. Sorry for going on again lol xxxcherylxxx

Hi

That is wrong what they have done I think you should warn other people who go there asap. I would kick up such a fuss that they lose customers so they can realise how serious this could of been. You may not have been there and you daughter could have got serious ill or die. I probably would have been the same as you because a child finding that is serious but to them if your daughter had died they it would be serious.

I would email Asda House hun, I have had to complain myself about them recently, although nothing as serious as what has happened to you and your little girl.

That's just terrible! Damn right to go to the papers I would be so mad!
It's not up to the security guard or manager to make the decision that you are just being an over protective mum, it's thier Angry duty to serve the public and part of that is to make sure customers are ok and follow up any incident!
I would check the security company they use and report them too - useless!!!

Glad your LO is ok

xx

hi there just an update the artical has been in the paper it states that asda house have said that the package was not drugs and that the police told them to throw it away that is all they would say. Yet the police was not contacted about the incident and i cant understand how they can say it was not drugs to say that they should have had it analised. I have sent them an email thanks candgsmum for the linkand told them they have 48 hours to sort this mess out then i will be taking legal action thanks again for all you replies xxxcherylxxx
