Bleeding at 8 weeks - very worried

Hello everyone. This is my first post to the forums. I've been reading some information which has helped me a bit but thought I'd ask your thoughts based upon your own experiences.

I am 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I had no complications with my first pregnancy (daughter now almost 9) but I started spotting yesterday at 1.30am. I was really worried about it and did a pregnancy test. I was still positive.

In the afternoon the spotting got a bit more noticeable so I ended up in the hospital A&E and the doctor seemed to think it wasn't unusual and said to go home and rest and book an early scan Monday.

This morning I woke up and found I had blood in my pants and when I went to the toilet a clot came away but the bleeding, whilst a bit heavier then, has subsided a bit again and very little bright red blood on sanitary pad. I phoned the docs and they said, again, it is quite normal and does tend to co-incide with your period due dates (which is right) and the clot was likely a build up of the blood overnight and just came away when I went to the toilet. However, I'm still really worried as my breasts don't hurt anymore and I don't feel sick either. That all stopped about a week ago although with my daughter, it didn't start until about now!

I have to get a scan tomorrow at the Early Pregnancy Unit but I'm desperately worried I am losing my baby.

Has anyone else had morning clots and this kind of bleeding and everything been ok? I know no-one can guarantee anything but I'd like to know your thoughts. From what I've read, it seems some of you have but I'm feeling very insecure about all this. Thanks everyone.

Krista

I had spotting once during my first pregnancy at about 7 weeks I think it was but it never got heavier. I'd be scared too if I were you but if the doctor has said it's ok then I don't suppose there's much you can do until tomorrown unless you go back to A and E. Who will then probably tell you to wait for your scan again. I think it's bad the way you're left hanging over the weekend just because they have fewer staff on duty. Hope you get on ok amd get as much rest as you can.

Thanks ladies. I agree it's a pain to wait as we all want to know everything is either ok or gone horribly wrong there and then. I'll keep you posted. Thank you for your support.

Hi Krista, I'm Tammy, welcome to JP I have a 4 year old little girl, Aaralyn. When I was about 8-9 weeks with Aaralyn, I had spotting... I also had what seemed like a regular period after she was conceived, so hopefully everything will be ok with you. Good luck at the appointment and come back and tell us how everything is, ok hun Kiss

Hi all and thank you again

I think this is what is now defined as 'spotting'. It's not like a period in that the blood isn't just coming out constantly, it's barely noticeable as a pink tinge on a sanitary pad but is definitely there when I go for a wee (hope that's ok to say Embarassed ). I've been a bit confused with 'bleeding' and 'spotting' so I think I have the latter Smile

Thank you for all your good wishes. I'm sitting with my feet up on the sofa today with hubby running around looking after me. It's our wedding anniversary tomorrow - isn't mother nature's timing ironic for things like this.

As the spotting is calming down a bit, I'm feeling a bit less stressed and am just hoping that the early scan tomorrow will be ok. Sadly hubby has to start jury service as well tomorrow so it's a bit of a disaster all round!

I appreciate everyone's support and good wishes. It's so nice to know you're not alone in this stuff whatever the outcome.

Thank you Miaruby. I can't stop crying over the slightest thing. Sure it will get better. It doesn't seem to matter how many people have gone through it before when it's you Sad Face The people on this site have been so sweet - both in my case and in others I've read. I'll keep an eye on you all.

You guys are just so lovely. It's so nice to be on a forum like this and meet such wonderful 'strangers'. Thank you all. I'm still a bit edgy as the hospital have phoned twice now as they are concerned I'm not in any pain and the bleeding isn't more than when I have a wee (TMI - sorry) so they are doing another blood test and scan on Thursday. Seems they are worried it could be ectopic but I have no one-sided pain or any pain for that matter. I'll keep you all posted.

I know it's not the best news for others going through this now and looking for the reassurance that I was but hopefully it will help some readers to know what to expect - both good and bad - from all our accounts.

Love to everyone and thank you again for your support.
