right this might sound really trivial to some of you but I am quite scared about potty training my daughter! She wil totally not entertain the idea of the potty and will only sit on the toilet for second! I need to get some kind of routine in where the toilet training come into it! just dont know where to start! I do think Mia is ready as she is able to tell me when she has a dirty nappy but I just dont know how to go about the whole thing as she is my first! any ideas/advice is welcome! Smile

With Aaralyn I just put her in underpants on a friday and decided that there would be no more diapers except at night. We went through alot of pee pee'd panties that weekend but then she just kinda stopped going in her pants and went on the toilette... she did not like the potty on the floor, she wanted it on the big potty and the one I had you could use for both. She just got it and then that was it, except for at night and the occasional too busy playing to go... she had a short period of regression and then she was fine again.

My biggest fear was leaving the house with her in her underpants Shocked but! she never had an accident while we were out... I just always made sure we were in close proximity to a bathroom LOL

Good luck hun, you guys will do just fine, as long as you expect to have a few frustrating moments... try to make it as fun and positive experience as possible, as I know you will anyway Wink

both my girls were very lazy when it came to potty training so i\did what tammy did and put them straight into underpants. i asked them every half hour if they needed to go to the toilet, and both were dry within a few days. i also found they preferred the toilet (with a trainer seat) and a stool so they could do it themselves and be big girls. this is similar to the one we have. ours has pigs on though

I was terrified of training Charlotte too hun. We had left the potty around and we tried putting her on it before bed but it wasn't a big hit. In the end we just put her in her knickers and told her that if she felt she needed to wee to get her potty or ask for the toilet. At first she had a few accidents but I would say within about a week she would wander off and get her potty all by herself.

Charlotte would get very upset if she wet herself so we had to calm her down and tell her she was learning to be a big girl but it was only an accident and not to get upset.

Offer lots of praise when she does get it right, we used to give Charlotte a big clap and give her a sweet or if she had a full dry day she would get a bowl of ice cream as it's her favourite.

Good luck hun xx

Very happy

with kyle i found he kept waking with a dry nappie so decided ok nows the time, nappies went day and night he took to it really well and by the time he was 2 and half dry day and night never looked bk i think i was really quite lucky but i do think u should do day and night together so u only have to go through it 1 time and not go through it again for night times too.

well done u! she'll get there hun, make a game for her so she enjoys sitting the pot or buy one of those kids toilet seats so she can sit on the big girls toilet, we bought one with fishes on it, it was a hit! Very happy, let her go to the loo with u and clap with u when u've done a pee, she'll probably want to do the same and be like mummy and dont make a fuss if wets her big girls knickers. it takes time but suddenly she will shock u and grasp it. well done mia for trying, clever girl Very happy Very happy

Hey hun, if she doesn't seem to grasp it don't worry maybe just leave it another week or so and try again. It took a few attempts with Charlotte and we had a set back after she got gastroenteritis, but like Kel said, all of a sudden they grasp it.

You are on a winner already if she likes the potty, she won't be afraid of it. Well done!!

My daughter potty training now.. i brought her bear in the big blue house potty dvd... and it seemed to help.

we got her to sit on potty alot first, then after a week or so sit on it with a nappy... then she got the hint. Once she done it once or twice she was sorted. I didnt give her any sweet or stickers though.
Nappy pants are good because she has fallen asleep in the car and had accidents....!

When I did Joseph, he wasnt quite 2 and after 2 days I gave up and put the pull ups back on. I tried again the month after he was 2, I stayed home and left him running about with nothing on, potty to hand. after 3 successful days at home We went out for short trips and I started moving the potty nearer the toilet (it is upstairs)by the end of my 2 week holiday he was fry all the time (still poo'd sometimes in his pants if he was engrossed in something but another week sorted that out) that was 2 years ago now.

Just have to work on the night time thing now. Sad Face
