Crying Last year my DS was playing with my cousin and hurt his thumb. It swelled up so we took him to our gp who then sent him to the hospital for x-rays.The x-rays couldnt show if his thumb was broken so we got sent home and told he would be ok.All year he has been ok but every now and then if he bumps his thumb it swells and goes purple so we are of to the gp again and have been told that it might need to be re-broken and set in plaster Crying I feel sick at the thought of the pain he might have to go through i know its only his thumb and there are lots of children that are much worse of but hes my baby!! Sad Face

Kiss aawwww, I can imagine how you must be feeling. Poor little guy, I hope they don't have to do this but just know if they do, he will be just fine. If he has to have the cast just try to make it fun, let him do crayon pics on it and let every one sign it for him. I betcha if he has to have it, he's just gonna feel extra special cuz of all the extra attention he's gonna get.

good luck sweety, let us know how it goes.

ouch. he will fine hun. I remember bending my fingers back and they couldnt see from xray if they were broken so they said strap them together for a week and they will be fine- they were still sore 10 days later and when thinking about going back to GP the hospital phoned and wanted to re x-ray them. I had broken one and had a hairline fracture on the other!!!.

Fingers and thumbs heel quickly. Kiss

Sad Face The x-rays have showed some bone abnormality and they think he has some tendon damage. We are now waiting for our appointment with the orthepedic surgeon at the childrens hospital to see what has to be done.Fingers crossed that they can just let him heal on his own. Crying

HI guys just a quick update while i have a few seconds to spare.
We saw the doctor today and my DS HAS to have an operation on his thumb. Crying
They have discovered that he has something called a trigger finger (in his case thumb) and he needs to get it corrected asap.It isnt common in children, they havnt seen a case in a child for 5 years and the child was 12.It is most common in persons of 40 and up.
They have assured me its nothing to serious but they immediately booked him in for the 29th october(and this is in a public hospital) Suspect
Sooooooo thats that my baby is going to hospital and im being a "complete sooky baby" Crying lol
