You might change your mind, but it's not the end of the world if you bottle feed. Yes there are many advantages to breast feeding and it's cheaper but if it gets you down it will affect you and your baby in a negative way. Just see how you feel.

Hi Kimbe
I'm a strong supporter of bfeeding, but if you feel like this, then it's gonna be even harder. I can't help feeling that an emotionally content mummy makes a safe and happy baby. Do what YOU feel comfortable with. (Can't believe I'm saying this - I'm sooooo pro breastfeeding!! LOL) It really is quite hard work... I really believe it is worth it, but I had brilliant midwives on hand and a midwife sis in law - all these things made life easier for me. If you're not up for it from the off, you'll just feel like you're under pressure when the baby is born. I can understand you feelin guilty, but sounds to me like your mind is made up. Go with yer heart and stick strongly to your decision - be assertive and no one will boss you about!

i don't think the urge to BF will kick in once the baby is born especially. If you really don't want to try, then don't. coz it aint easy even for those who really want to. so to try when you're not keen will only lead to disaster. if you're not sure, i say give it a try, you might be a natural you never know. but don't stress about it, plenty of people can't/won't BF & formula works better for them. xx

I felt exactly the same when I was pregnant with Charlotte, I even talked to a breastfeeding counsellor but I felt even more torn and even more guilty! Fortunately a lovely lady there said that I should go with what I felt happy with, if I was having doubts about BF and I felt pushed then it wasn't right for me...this woman was BF her own child when she was speaking to me! Charlotte was formula fed and she was a contented and healthy baby.
