Over the first hurdle

Hi

I've been battling with the fact that I know I am overweight for a few years now, but always find excuses not to do anything about it. Usually blaming the job and lack of time.

Well last weekend I went to the local leisure having found no other gym's within 20 miles and signed up. I have my introductory session on Monday night.

Want to lose 3 - 4 stone to take me down to where I was 10 years ago. Not just doing it for the weight loss though. Need to get fit to keep up with the kids. Especially my little boy.

Well I'm signed up for a minimum of one year now with a monthly DD and so that is the first hurdle crossed. Wish I could believe it would be all downhill after that but I know it won't be.

Yes. I went to one while at University. Went twice but got bored. I need to do something and don't have the time at the moment to make it to a sports club or anything similar on a regular basis. The good thing about the gym is that I can go when I have time so it will fit around my unpredictable work life. When I have to go away for work then hopefully the hotel might have one, or I can find the local leisure centre if I need to.

Just hope it has the desired affect.

Well a quick update. I'm still going to the gym but with my holiday and other crap in my life I didn't go for about three weeks.

Had my review there earlier this week and it included some positives as well as negatives.

I haven't lost any weight in fact I put on 3 pounds
My waist is the same size
Hips 1cm smaller
Arms and legs both 1cm bigger

Therefore I blame the increase in weight on the increase in muscle in my legs and arms, and the lack of weight loss on two weeks of fine food and wine in France on holiday. Hopefully I will turn it around now that I am back to almost normal life, and the house is just about back together.

If you had 2 weeks of fine wine and fine food, then I bet it was worth the extra pounds, Sounds like your on your way to starting an all around fresh life style and in the right direction... glad you're getting through these hurdles... things will start to settle into a routine for you again Kiss

iv joined the gym, been going about 4wks now, although i didnt go friday as i find it hard to get somebody have ethan as DP works funny shifts.but im really enjoying it! like u iv had a health check (bupa) which is all in with it and its a 12months contract (which i think having the contract and knowing that the DD going out each month gives me the incentive to go as i want my moneys worth!!) just wish it had a creche so i could just take ethan and go whenever i want without the worry of someone having him! i could do with going today actually and again tomorrow as i have my review on wednesday!! i dont know wot i want to be weightwise,i just know i want to drop 2 dress sizes (my pre-pregnancy size)... i know i can do it,i think its just getting ur butt into gear thats the hard bit aint it-once u got urself motivated, your well on your way!

good luck and let us know how u go on!

Hey! Well done for just joining and getting there! Holidays are for relaxing and not worrying about things so eating and drinking what you want is nothing to be upset about!

Very happy

Why does it always take something extreme to make some progress? Looks like my cycle ride has kicked something into action, or at least killed off some of my stored energy reserves (fat)! I've lost about 7lbs over the last two weeks having burnt 62,000+ calories in just 12 days. Hopefully it will stay off.
