Baby won't feed, can anyone help?

Hi everyone, I am posting this in the hopes that someone can give me some advice on what to do about Millies feeding. She is 10 months now and has always been exclusively breastfed, we tried a bottle a couple of times but she wouldn't take it. Since she got her teeth through she has bitten me a couple of times, but only when she has been teething. Yesterday she started biting again, she has a tooth coming through so I asumed it was that but she won't feed at all, she last had a full feed yesterday morning and has only fed for about 10 mins in total since. I have tried giving her formula in a cup (she uses one for water) and in a sippy cup and she won't take that either. I just don't know what to try, she is in bed crying, I am down stairs crying and husband is at work. Does any one have any ideas what else I can try?

Hey Kerry, first of all ((((((hugs)))))))))) ok, now that's out of the way. Have you tried to just give her a little whole milk? Aaralyn basically weaned herself from my breastmilk at about 8 months. She just didn't really want it any more but wanted nothing to do with formula. I just gave her whole milk and she was fine. My pediatrician was concerned because the milk can cause an iron deficiency or somthing like that but Aaralyn never had a problem with her iron level when he checked her so said it was ok. Good luck sweety!

Don't have any whole milk in the house at the minute so will have to try that tommorrow. I'm typing this while I express some milk so she can have that if she won't feed in the morning. She is at least asleep now so I guess I'll have to see what happens tomorrow. Cheers for replying!

Still on feeding strike. She drank some of the expressed milk this morning and a little bit of cows milk at 3.30 but that is all she's had all day. Tried expressed milk and cows milk tonight and she wouldn't take either. Ive more or less resigned myself to the fact that she won't take another breastfeed although I will keep trying for a few days. I just wish she would drink some milk in some form or another! To make matters worse I have a stomach upset now and haven't moved of the sofa all day (thank goodness for granny's!)

Glad you have someone there to help. Do you think maybe that's LO's problem? Maybe her tummy is upset too (little bug going around?) and that's what's makin her not want to eat.

Happy you're gettin' some rest and hoping you both feel better.

Hi hun, try giving her some yoghurt too so that at least she is getting some calcium inside her. Try to add milk to anything that she will eat so at least she is getting her milk in some way.

Just thought that all of you who tried to help us out might be intrested to know that Millie has now gone back to feeding normally. I think she had actually forgotten how much she liked it and after I had more or less forced her to feed a couple of times the penny dropped! Thanks again for all your help and support, Kerry xxx
