its ellie-mae's birthday today she is 2 but i have got a little emotional because its also the day her twin sister died,
and to top it off i have had to work as they wouldnt give me the day off!!!!!!

aww hunni why wouldnt they let you have the day off. it must have been a very hard emotional day of mixed emotions.. happy birthday to your little one

my managers are complete holes, they threatened to more or less sack me on monday as i had to pick my daughter up as she had conjunctavitas. and also i booked my holday of (12days) and they told me i only have 10 (bearing in mind my hols were booked and paid for before i went back to work) so now this is what will happen. We land at 5.30am on monday morning, get home for about 6.30 and gotta go to work at 7.45..so like i say complete holes

You ARE entitled to parental leave if your LO is sick! Its a bummer that you don't get paid for it but they still have to let you go when you need to.

George was very ill with gastroenteritis last week and the week before so I had to take some days off. I'm fortunate that my work are really great for letting me get off if I need to. I think you are entitled to something like 16 weeks unpaid leave a year, its either called career/parental leave.
