Feel sad as I have to stop breastfeeding.

I have now got Scarlett down to one B/f per day, which is before bed. I was going to continue, but I have had alot of pain with a tooth and need stronger painkillers also I am on a very high dose of antibiotics so I would rather that Scarlett had cows milk as I don't want all of this going through my milk to her. Feel sad but maybe it is time plus she bit me really hard last night. So tonight I will give her a beaker of cows milk. Scarlett has a beaker of cows milk every morning now and she loves it so hopefully she will adjust to this tonight, I will miss the closeness. But I need to think of myself now, I am so run down, had little sleep with the pain I have at the moment. But I have breastfed her for 13 1/2 months - not bad eh!

Feel better! And you have done a great job of BF-so give yourself a nice big pat on the back. Know what you mean though as I thought Noa had stopped the little BF she was doing and then after about 5 days-she just started up again (seems like 2 small comforting snacks is what she wants)

Thanks Susie, just read your reply on Ak too! I had planned to stop at 13 months and then Scarlett seemed to be enjoying it again so I carried on, but the decision has been made for me now as I don't want her having an upset tummy with all the antibiotics I am taking.

You have done amazingly well breastfeeding for as long as you have - so dont beat yourself up over stopping now. You need to make sure you are better in yourself now so console yourself with the fact that you have given your baby the absolute best start in life.

You've done fantastic to carry on breastfeeding for this long. I had to stop BF our 2nd son when he was 3mths old as my gp & hv were concerned that my post natal depression was getting worse rather than better so insisted i went on tablets. It broke my heart and took ages to get our LO to have formula, luckily I'd expressed loads into Avent tubs and put them into the deep freeze so that helped. Good luck XX
