Employers and family leave

I saw this article in the news about Etsy, the handmade website - and their policies towards family leave for new parents.

If you were working prior to having your child, was your workplace family friendly? Were you offered a certain number of weeks leave, and did you find the amount you were offered was adequate?

I worked my whole pregnancy except with my second one which I had problems and my doctor put me off work 2 weeks prior to my due date. I was off for the entire 8 weeks since I had C-sections for both children. My job did not pay me while I was out but they are required to keep my position until I returned. I could not afford to take any more time than that so I went back to work. I wish we had it where we would be paid and had a decent amount of time off as new parents.
