Last year, it was in the news that German police warned parents to keep their children's pictures off Facebook for the safety of the little ones.
Do you agree with this warning and how secure are you with posting your children's pictures on Facebook?
It is strange, Americans don't really seem to have this sensibility. But the culture is different in the United States, it is very achievement and fame orientated, so pictures of children on Facebook just seem to build up their image, and people might even view that as a good thing, not a negative.
It is almost inescapable too, because people all believe this is the norm, and will put on and tag pictures of your child. And I feel people almost take pride in being able to be googled, in a way that their achievements and pictures come up.
So unless someone comes up with some real compelling reasons why we should not put up pictures of our kids, it just seems this is the way American society is going.
I have pictures of my daughter on both my Instagram and my Facebook accounts. But I have them locked down so that only people I know have access to them. I don't know that I would feel too comfortable about having my profiles accessible by anyone and everyone out there, when I had pictures of her on there. I think as sad as it is, in this day and age you just don't know who is lurking out there...and it's better to be safe than sorry.
