Special care unit

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and in
Desperate need of some advice, I'm a mum of five
1 boy and 4 girls. Me and my partner have my youngest
Daughter together. I have been suffering with a
Stomach issue for the past three years. I have been forced
To give up work with the issue as I have been on very strong
Painkillers. I found out I was pregnant last year and was
Told by doctors not to continue with the pregnancy for fear of my health
We made a very painful choice and had a termination. I had a coil inserted to stop
This happening again, however I found out two weeks ago that I am now 28
Weeks pregnant with another little girl. All medication has been cut down or stopped,
however there are some concerns for when baby is born. Being a late booker
They can't scan her properly, they can't se the coil and are concerned regarding withdrawal. So here is the advice needed, has anybody had dealing with
Special care units and what happens? I'm so scared
And would love to hear from anyone that has had
Experience with them. Sorry it's do long winded x

Hi there and welcome to JP. I don't have any experience or advise I can give you regarding what you are going through. Have you spoken to your Dr about all your concerns? I can only recomend that you ask as many questions as possible and don't be afraid to get second opinions. I wish you the best of luck.

Quick. Since finding out two weeks ago everything has just been so rushed, I'm completely out my comfort zone. But I will ask them when my next appointment is. Thanks again x

Special care units really aren't that scary, they can be quite noisy though as no matter what treatment your child needs, there are still quite a few pieces of equipment in operation.

Why does your baby need the special care unit if they have been unable to identify any abnormalities and there isn't a reason for early induction? While she is 28 weeks the most difficult thing to do during a scan would be to determine the gender, finding abnormalities would be relatively easy, most physical abnormalities are diagnosed at the 30 week scan.
