Share a room or not????

Hi everyone

My eldest is nearly two, how old do they have to be before putting them in a bed rather than cot? also i have another boy who is nearly nine months who really should not be in our room now but is it too soon to have the two boys in the same room???? what are you opinions on the matter. they both sleep through the night.

My daughter was 3 and my son about 6/7 months when they started sharing a room; and now my daughter has her own room and my two boys are sharing aged 4 and 1, but were again aged 3 and about 7 months when they started sharing a room. If they both sleep through I think it's fine.
As for transferring from cot to bed well we have a cot bed so technically it should last longer than a normal sized cot but as we've passed it on down to use for each of our three the bigger ones have had to go into beds before they've outgrown the cot bed. Our eldest was two and a half when she went into a normal bed and our middle child coming up three BUT before this when in the cot they did have the cot side down for a while. With my daughter because she was toilet trained at 2 and would get out to the toilet at night and for my boy because he could actually climb out over the top and tis was more dangerous than having the cot side down. We've yet to reach any of these milestones with number three yet!

Thanks for that, my eldest also has a cot bed, the past few mornings i have heard him wake and just as i have walked in he is climbing over the top so i think i will make the transition tonight to his bed. As for sharing i will wait to see how he does with his bed first before moving his little brother in, just to make sure he settle alright in it, no point in unsettling them both at this crucial stage. Mine have shared from word dot and no problems at all, leaves us with a spare room as well

Ours generally get their own bed at around two, until then they stay in our room, we don't do cots, so we've never had to do a real transition to a bed.

I think its when the parents feel that their child is ready, crystal aged 4 and tamzine aged 1 started sharing a room when tamzine was 6 months

Charlotte went into her own room and a cot at 3 months because she slept through the night and out grew the moses basket.

George was about 3/4 months because he hated the moses basket but because there was no room in our room to put a cot, I had to fetch him from his room, into ours to feed him, which was hard work. He ended up fast asleep next to me in bed half the time, oops!

Charlotte had a junior bed shortly after we moved when she was about 19 months and George went to a junior bed because he used to try tip his cot, then back into a travel cot (so if he did tip it, no major injuries) as he kept getting out of bed and running riot, when he was about 2. He was about 2 1/2 when we got him back into the junior bed.

They used to have 'sleep overs' in each others room LOL! but they do have seperate bedrooms

Cute! Kids tend to feel safer in each others company when they share a room together.

You should put them to bed at or after the age of 3, and then you can sift your other baby as well.
