Ashamed of being in debt, with children. Am I a bad parent!

I havent been on here for a little while, I have been trying to sort myself out but I havent got anywhere. I am deep in debt and I dont know where to turn, I have a lovely family and I am frightened if antone finds out i will loose the kids.

I very much doubt you will loose your children for being in debt, but you need to get some help.

Keeping it quiet has not helped you so far, don't be too proud to ask. Go to the citizens advice and be truthful about your debt so they can give you the right advice.

I am a single mum and am friends who are in a similar situation. We are in debt to some extent _ I don't know many people who are debt-free.
As far as my family is concerned, I pay the creditors a little each week and we sort rent, etc. first. My kids are clean, fed as well as I can at the moment and look nice when we go out.
My priority is to feed and clothe my kids. Rent and stuff come next, then the debts. As long as they are paid regularly, they are happy.
It may take me a while to repay the debts but this is okay because I'm not prepared to make us miserable in the meantime.
