Spotting in early pregnancy

Hi, I did a pregnancy test 5 weeks ago, which was positive, I thought I was 8 weeks pregnant, I have started to have spotting, I went to the hospital and had an internal scan, the baby had a heart beat and was in the right place, was only 4mm big she said it must be less than 6 weeks, aprox 5 weeks, I dont understand how this can happen when the test was positive 5 weeks ago, also I am really worried the spotting may lead to a misscarriage, which will now feel worse after knowing the baby was ok. How long does normal spotting last? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Hi, I had a scan last week because I had bleeding, well at first it was very light but over the past 6 days it has gone heavy and for 2 days I had bad pains every 30 mins which scared the hell out of me, all they could see on the scan was a yolk sac, she said u are either only 5 weeks and they have got ur dates wrong or they baby hasn't developed, by my last period I should be nearly 9 weeks now, I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it was positive, has anyone else had heavy bleeding and pains? I have to go back next week to see if there is a baby there, so worried, I didn't have bleeding with my first child. [/b]
