The media are very good at scarmongering and at the moment I think it is just that. We have had CJD, BSE, MRSA, CDiff, BIRD FLU and now SWINE FLU. It is deaths but the common flu kills something like 150,000 a year world wide but it is not reported.
No worried in the least about it. I did hear one lady on my bus this morning giving the man next to her a lecture because he sneezed and didn't over his mouth. Thankfully I was behind them and the germs went forwards LOL
I agree with Alex that most of this is the media making a mountain out of a molehill. They did it with SARS and Jade Goody, now she's kicked it, they need something else to keep the mass hysteria going.
My doctor said there are far more deaths in a normal flu season. The media are on their usual frenzy. Guess it hides the fact that petrol is going up again...

Our petrol is coming down
Your GP is right. every year there are 250,000 -500,000 deaths world wide from flu. Swine flu has only had 700 deaths world wide
Charlotte is on a course of tamiflu due to swine flu. She really isn't too bad she is struggling with headache along with fatigue and a low fever. (Along with runny nose etc). Fingers crossed she'll be better soon and it won't get any worse.
I must admit I didn't think any of us would get it...showed me didn't it!
Hope Charlotte is feeling better
My bro in law had it but he didnt get given the tamiflu because they risk assess it over here ill, young and elderly first.I dont know if this is true or not but they are saying that the people that have passed away from the "swine flu" have had other long term pre existing medical issues???
The difference between Swine flu and ordinary flu is just 5 letters according to the Consultants I work with. If you are going to get flu you will get it, not much you can do to stop it. This year they are calling it swine flu, next year they could be calling it blue and green polkadot flu and all the 'sheep' that are getting into a panic about it will still be panicing.
PMSL,every year it seems that another animal flu is going around, bird flu, horse flu,pig flu,we should place our bets on what animal flu will be next LOL.
I am in the middle of a dose of the piggy flu and compared to the 'normal' flu I had last year this is a breeze. Only had one day of total uselessness compared to a week of wanting to die with normal flu so I would not worry about it too much unless you have a condition that makes flu risky.
I am on Tamiflu, but only so I can get better quick because of the baby.
Apparently, talktoadoctor.co.uk is helpful - Though you do have to pay, you speak to a doctor rather than someone in a call centre.
Hope it puts some minds at ease
