this made me sick to my stomache

it was in our local paper last week that theres a peadophile living 2streets away from caseys school. literally 2mins away. its wrong they shouldnt be allowed anywhere near any school. the street hes living on is the same street as at least 3 of caseys class mates, 1 of them is right next door. parents on the street were tryin to get the police involved but apparently theres nothing they can do, how wrong is that? he was at crown court 2day hope hes gone down for what he did.

I agree people of danger shouldn't be near those who are at risk, but unless everyone is in prison, it isn't physically possible you know, where I live for example, the whole village live on the same street as the primary school. Unless someone leaves their children alone, there isn't actually a risk. You know whats weird now though, you can be put on the sex offenders register for dressing your children at out door swimming pools as you are exposing them, mental. Hopefully this person will recieve the correct sentence.

I have a rejistered sex offender in my road. When I first found out I felt like you, sick and outraged. I don't know if his offences were again adults or children but it really frightened me at first; I felt like screaming at him in the street!! But now it just makes me more determined to keep my children close as they are growing up, and after all there could be others out there that I don't know about but I've realised I should be aware of every body. It is scary, but it does make you keep them closer!

Here it is law that a registered offender can not live within so far of a school or place where children will be, like parks, schools, ect.

It is so scary but we really do not know the truth of how many of these people there actually are around us.

A few years ago when Georgia-Mae went missing and the police were searching around our house, the fields etc i could here names coming through on their radios of people who were registered offenders in the area and there were so many, names i knew from school (i am only 26) and people my parents know, etc etc etc.

I don't know why the government insists on protecting these people, so what if someone hurls a brick thru their window! There was something on the news not that long ago about a paedophile who had been killed by vigilantes while he was in his caravan- you could see the police were going towards siding with the 'victim'! Pathetic how after the number of high profile child deaths in the last few years in the UK, the government still treat it as a 'psychological illness'.

I think it has to be a psychological illness in some sense, what person in their right mind would want to have sex with a child... not excusing it or defending it though believe me.... If it is an illness, treat it like cancer and remove the problem (ie tumor, penis)

I think people throwing bricks through other peoples windows is wrong whatever. Although believe me i would want to do it if i knew or if one had hurt one of mine. However i think this is the problem. We live in a society where we have decided to have a judgement system. we employ people to look after us and take scum off the streets. If people went around doing as they pleased it would become a lawless society and there would be anarchy. I agree the polices hands are tied and i think the sentences that are dished out are pathetic in a lot of cases. But that is where we should be projecting our anger towardds and get it changed! Plus what happens if you get it wrong because of rumour? People vilified for something they may not have done? Personally i think medical castration may be the best bet for these people? Xx

You need to know the actual offence too, most people assume the worst, when in a lot of cases PC goes mad and people are put on the sex offenders register for holding a childs hand to cross a road or something equally as stupid.

The chemical castration thing is good in serious cases, as in not stupid politically correct ones but the defendant has to agree to it, which isn't exactly great.

I agree the acual offence needs to be known. I actually read about a case where a 19yr old boy was beaten to death by peers because they found out he had been put on the sex offenders register for having sex with a minor. At the time of the offence, he was 17 and he had had sex with his 15yr old gf. The father of whom had presed charges? So this lad lost his life for sleeping with a girl who was only around 18mth younger than himself? That is the danger of rushing in a taking the law into your own hands without knowing all the details!

As for the castration, i think it is silly to have to get permission from the defendant as if it is a phycological illness as we are told then how are they capable of making the decision to be castrated or not? as this is the area of their brain (ie sex drive/feelings) that has been affected? Xx

But they are surely tempting fate by putting them back into the community where they are seeing children every day- like dangling a carrot in front of them. There is always the very real possibility that they will re-offend. If they couldn't control their urge they do need to be 'calmed' somehow.

this one in question is 21 and raped a 14yr old, touched a 12 yr old with intent and penetrated a 12 year old. he deserves to lose his bits. now i know that is victims are alot older that casey but her school is right next door to the comp so its not like theres nothing the for him, so to say.

i spoke to a police man yesterday and asked if he was sent down, he said he hadnt been back to court but wasnt in our town any more.
an hour later i spoke to a woman who lives on same street as him and she said hes still there as there, she'd seen him that morn. also was a load of police there as she set of to bring her lil girl 2 nursery.
