A stranger ask to hold your child???????
I took Sam to have his injections today Crying and while i was out i thought id pop over to the post office and pay my bills.
Sam was in the pram he wasnt crying just grizzling a bit and a lady probably late fiftys early sixtys asked if i wanted her to nurse him Shocked while i got served. It was a kind offer but she did seem a little strange.I refused of course in a polite way.

This does sound strange and i don't blame you not letting this stranger hold you baby, she could have taken him. I don't like it when strangers in shops, etc, touch my daughter. This happened yesterday because my daughter was grizzling a bit in the supermarket queue. An old woman said she was making a mess of her face because she was grizzling then got hold of her hand. My daughter wasn't impressed, lol!

I remember being in a restaurant with my OH and the kids. Bailey was only about 2 months old and just cried from the moment we sat down. A very kind woman came over and asked if she could hold him while we ate our food. I thought this was extrememly kind and Bailey soon stopped crying and loved the attention. As she was sat so close to us I didn't see any harm, Bailey stopped crying and we got to eat our food, win win lol

I honestly dont want to be judgemental but she seemed the type of person that "wasnt quite with it" she also seemed a bit annoyed that i refused she didnt say anything but i just had that feeling. The man behind the counter also made a comment about being careful when i was leaving it really creeped me out(there have been growing number of attacks for money around my local shopping mall/area).I also dont like strangers peeping into the pram or touching my children.I do try not to think all people are bad but you just have to be so careful these days i just dont trust anyone anymore and its sad. No
but i still have to live my life and i cant be afraid to go out even though it made me just want to come home and feel "safe".

Hun if your intstincts were telling you something wasn't quite right, then I think you did the right thing to up and politely refuse.

I wouldn't dream of asking a total stranger if I could hold their baby!

I would have told her to back off. If your baby wasn't crying then there's no need for anybody to come along to "help".
My mom told me a story of the time my great grandma kidnapped one of my uncles. So, you see, kidnappers have no age limit. You trusted your instincts and it probably payed off. Good for you.

You did the right thing hun. I don't think it was about a stranger asking to hold your baby i think it was that you didn't think the person who asked was 'right'. I had someone help me on the bus the other day (very unusual!) because i had to put the buggy down. It was a middle aged woman who i didn't want to have to lift the heavy buggy on the bus. So she took Jake on for me and i carried the buggy on while holding Lolly's hand. The lady helped me off too. In the situation you were in, i would have done exactly the same though hun! Xx
