Bear Grylls and Ray Mears Have Nothing on My Kids

It started with a challenge while watching Bear Grylls which resulted in my two boys building a bivvy in the garden and spending a night sleeping out without the aid of a tent.

This has now developed further and we have just come back from 2 nights spent sleeping out in a small copse without a tent. We obtained permission from the farmer and took appropriate precautions with fire etc. but what fun. My boys loved it, and so did I.

Making fire without matches or a lighter, skinning a rabbit (which I'd purchased from a local butchers), cooking on an open fire and sleeping in hammocks.

Great fun and highly recommended.

That does sound like great fun! I'd have to go with the tent though, and have someone else skin the rabbit!!

What an adventure for the boys though!

Wow my Dad and hubby love those programmes and I can just imagine my kids going out doing all that. When my hubby skins a rabbit they sit and watch him and ask questions about it intrigued.
