Lottie brought a letter home for her first school trip last nite.
They are going to visit Bird World in July at the bargain price of £17.20!!!!!! Scared I knew school trips had gone up in price but my goodness! I dont think i can afford to send her on it - which is gutting as im sure most other children will be going - think we are gonna have to beg nanny for help - i just dont have spare cash like that Sad
The school do offer help for parents who cant afford things like trips but im sure as both em and df are working we wont be entitled to any help from them Upset

if you cant afford the full price speak to the school they have funds for that sort of thing, shame to make her mss out because you cant come up with the fuinds, perhaps they can let you pay 1/2 now and half later?

speak to them they understand.

If you offer them something they may be able to come up with the rest.

omg thats blooming expensive. i agree with lucy. talk to the school hun. if there are no funds theyre usually really good and let you pay in instalments. we did when jami went away for 4 days. cost £150 and we paid a bit each month, even after she had been.

good luck hunni x

How much????

I have never heard of a school charging that for a day trip. I have heard of some schools asking for a £1-£3 donation for the cost of a bus but thats it.

speak to the school hun.xx

When I went with Charlotte on a trip it was £15 per person and because of their ages the nursery needed to have a parent with them so it was £30 in all.

I know for the actual place we went to it was £17 for the both of us, so the coach was expensive too.

See if they will let you pay a little bit each week? I know that was offered to us, unfortunately though the couldn't subsidise it for us, and as myself and hubby work and aren't on working tax we aren't ever entitled to any help with things like that.

weve just had letters home for Gemma shes got a school trip to Sheringham Park at 9.00 and another Crucial crew at Easton College for 2.00, they all mount up!

I thought 9.00 was expensive, i toyed with the idea that she couldnt go because of the expense to but i had to get it from somewhere.

Its hard when they all come at once

ben and catherine have a trip coming up. £9.50 each. thats going to cost us £19 Shocked its a farm trip and from past experiences ben will hate it. he doesnt like any animal since he was bitten by a dog, so im thinking of keeping him home. but still its so expensive

well ive sorted it - lottie got given £15 from various people altogether for the hol we went on at the beginning of the month that she never spent so ive used that and added the rest to it - dont like using her money for things like that but only way we could afford it

im glad you were able to get the funds together, perhaps you can pay her back in dribs and drabs.

Sometimes you have to rob peter to pay paul, ive done and i spose ill have to do it again!

Shell appreciate it and that means shes not losing out, well done mummy Thumbs Up

I think that was a very useful way for her money to spent. It's not as if it has been used for rubbish and she will probably enjoy the school trip a lot more.

Hope she has a nice time

I know dd's school do a weeks trip over to the isle of wight when they reach 10yrs old - but i know trips like this u can pay for in installments so it wouldnt be so bad - i just think £17 for a trip to bird world is a lot! i dont even pay that to get in to chessington (got a free annual pass lmao!)
