VBAC or c-sec (im worried both ways)

I just read up about vbac's on the net as i was hoping to have a natural birth this time,but im thinking i will have a c-section instead
I couldnt find one site that had positive thing's to say only stories "horror stories" of what can and has gone wrong then a page came up with photos of children that had passed from vbac deliverys i couldnt stop crying
My dh read the rest and told me its my body my choice but he is also very worried.I have to let my gyno and MW know by my next appointment if i want a c-section or not?????????
Im so scared i dont know what choice to make as a c-sec has its negatives to but the risks in vbac (although minimal)are very severe and do happen.
This research has left me shaken and unsure part of me wishes i never read it and i went in nieve.
should i play it "safe"and just have a c-sec.????????
I just need some advise/reasurance.

ok my sister had to have a mergency c section with her first ok and then had another baby and decided she would like to try a natural birth

she went into labour as normal

did her 9 hours as normal

and the right on cue like anyother labour Aimme-Leigh was born

she had no problems at all and i should know i was there lol

she was fine with everything

i know each lady is different but it worth a shot and u no if things arent going so great u can be taken to thetre babe

just think of the great feeling when u have done it naturally and it the best experiance ever hun trust me

good luck in what u decide just wanted to give u a un horror story

my sil had one too and was fine she was even home the same day

I think its up to you hun,I have had a natural birth and a emergency c-section and to be honest think I would opt for the c-section next time,but its up to you nobody should judge you,if you feel passionate about a natural bith then yes go for it but if you have doubts then talk to your midwife,good luck with whatever you choose but dont feel pushed into anything your not happy with xxx http://www.childbirthconnection.org/article.asp?ck=10210

Like everyone has said hun, this is your body, your baby - so go with what you feel is right.

I think if there was such a risk that your scar would rupture etc, they wouldn't have given you the choice of a VBAC full stop. I've not had a ceasarean myself so I'm not clued up on the ins and outs of a VBAC or even what goes on with a c-section, but I've always heard good and bad things about natural and c-section deliveries.

My mum was told she must have a c-section with my youngest brother as she had a cyst the size of a satsuma removed from an ovarie when she was 4 months pregnant and they were worried her cut would rupture. She had a very forward thinking mw who supported her descision for a natural birth (this is 20 yrs ago now). I know it probably wasn't the same as a c-section scar but she still did it and no rupturing occurred.

Again though hun, you go with what you feel best

i had a VBAC and was absolutly fine.

my mw had told me that as soon as my contractions started to ring hospital so i did. they told me im fine just come in as normal either when i cant stand it or waters go.

was also told by mw i would be able to go in water after 3-4cms but hospital mw's werent fussed. i was havin a bath at that point.

wasnt even kept on the moitor all the time.

its a very small percentage of people that rupture. if u want to have a natural birth go for it ignore the horror stories.

Also my friend Hatty had a nightmare c-section with her first and the second time aroung had an amazing 6hour labour start to finish with her second. So it can happen.

Firstly - I had a HOME VBAC and i can honestly say - i loved every second of it !!
There are many horor stories about everything on the internet - as people only say about the bad things, rarely do the good things get mentioned!
Research shows that 0.35% chance of uterine rupture - look at that figure - thats less than 1% !!
Dont you dare 'play it safe' lol - i also dont understand how playing it safe is a caesarean - there are many more risks on the operating table than there is normal vaginal birth!

If you are in the UK and happen to buy the magazine called Love It! Yours truely will be in there in approx 2 weeks reguarding my caesarean then HVBAC, im the success story so to speak.

Is the "Love It!" magazine out now that you are in? We are trying for a baby now, I had both my son and daughter by c-section- the last op was 5 years ago. I would love to be able to have normal delivery on baby 3, need all the encouragement and proof that I can get that I could do it!

Hi there, Poor you, that sounds like a terrible website. Just to let you know, i had my first daughter by emergency caesarean in 2006 and in january this year i had my son naturally! I was so pleased and everything went smoothly. You do have to be monitored more than you would normally but the odds of anything going dangerously wrong are quite minimal. Because you are being monitored more if they weren't happy with what they saw you would be prepared for a c-section much earlier. I did some research when i was having my son and everything l looked at from the hospital indicated that a c-section is a risk too as they have to deal with scar tissue from the first operation. My midwife was very pro VBAC and i felt that was the best option for me as i didn't want to put myself through major abdominal surgery again if i didn't have to. I also didn't want to look back in years to come and wonder if i could have achieved a natural birth if i tried. However it depends on why you had your last c-section if you are suitable for VBAC ie. if it was because of fetal distress then the same thing is not likely to happen a second time and VBAC is a definite option. If it is something to do with you, ie. failure to progress, or being to small to deliver naturally then a c-section may be a better option? In short i think that you should do whatever you feel more comfortable with. Make sure you chat to your mw though as she may be able to put your mind at rest. I hope i haven't confused you more.
