Another active weekend

Went up to Cardiff this weekend to meet my brother and sister. We are training (or supposed to be when I can find the time around work and the kids) for our big cycle challenge this summer. So we used this weekend for our first bit of joint training.

We cycled 30 miles from our mum's house in Penarth to Castle Coch (that's the Red Castle in Welsh) and then back again. It was hard work but good fun. Need to be able to do 80-100 miles a day by August, so still a long way to go.

Then on Sunday I went rock climbing. My feet have only just recovered from wearing the rock climbing shoes which are (by design) much smaller and tighter than normal shoes.

Ouchy, yeah!

Been a while since I had reason to wear them, but I have size 11 feet, and have a lovely pair of..... size 9 climbing shoes.

Once you get on the rock face it all makes sense as your feet curl to the rock, but walking around at the base of the face? Agony! Upset

Not sure that I felt they made sense on the rock face either, but I'm still a novice.

Just to beat that weekend, last weekend I decided to go mountain biking with some work colleagues. Lets just say my enthusiasm for something that I haven't done for 10 years overtook my skill and I ended up in a sprawling pile on the floor. With bruised and cut knees and arms, bruises across my chest and a nice chunk missing from my chin that refused to stop bleeding for the rest of the ride.

All said though it was awesome fun and I'll have to do it again soon. We did this up at Cannock Chase near Birmingham. www.chasetrails.co.uk and its free

All for fun, and attempting to lose weight. Also trying to get fit as I am cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats this summer.

If only that was the case. 3 days a week at the gym for the last 9 months and all this cycling to lose 2 pounds.

Maybe, just doesn't feel like it at the moment. The one thing I want rid of is my beer belly. Guess which bit hasn't changed???? Answers on a postcard! LOL
