post subject thing

is there any way its minimum thing can be shortened?? the amount of times iv made a post an it refuses to post as it says 'topic subject minimum character of 15' or something like that! 15 characters is a lot really! iv just made a post and ended up putting way too many '?' and '!' marks just to make the charaters up!!

That's a new thing so that post topics wouldn't be quite so vague (I think I was the reason for this change LOL!) or short in description (so that if a member is looking for a specific thread then it would be easier to find if it were a more descriptive post topic), I think if it seems to be too many characters than Rob could maybe shorten it down to 10 or 12ish... Shrug

its like when i put that pic up of ethan - i called it 'ethan potter' - only as it was too short i had to put 'harry ethan potter' tut tut! id prefer just to put 'new photo' then describe the photo in the actual post section!

hapydazy hapydazy said 2 months 4 weeks ago Moderator
maybe put "new photo of...." but fill in the dots with you or Ethan's name, whoever is in the pic.... Shrug I don't know, just playing devils advocate here.... do you guys say that there?? and why is it called that??

That's exactly the problem though.. if everyone posted with a topic title of just 'new photo' then you've got a big list of topics where nobody has any idea which is which!

Some people don't have time to read every new topic on this forum, so it's only fair to try and be descriptive in your topic title so that people can see what it's about before clicking.

It also makes things very confusing when you're trying to find a particular discussion again and can't because it's got a generic title!

This change has been made to ask people to be more descriptive when they post, which will benefit other members, people searching for particular advice or topics, and ultimately you - by being more descriptive you're likely to get more people reading your posts and commenting!

We'll be keeping an eye on how this goes, and if we need to fine tune the character limit we'll do that - but I think this way is better than needing to moan at everyone all the time to put a better topic title on their threads Smile
